I think with this latest content update most everyone can say this is close to how it should've been at launch, or at least at beta stage. While there's still MUCH to improve still, I've noticed after coming back from a two week break that the balance is better, the melee is finally more satisfying, the netcode is better, performance is improved, and we finally can interact with individual matches on the world map. This is the point where I believe the game has started to exit its potentially fatal level of lack of polish stage it had at launch. I'm excited to see what more they are able to add to the game.
The game was enjoyable for the very first day I started playing it. But I am not in the group of "almost everyone". There is a long long way measured in time and in content untill this game will reach release ready state. Imo right now we are just closing to the state that could justify open beta release.
No, update 16 in pre-release was as close to good as EC has gotten. Melee was smooth and reliable, things worked. Whenever you find yourself saying something like, "(almost) everyone can [support my opinion]", stop and think about what that actually means and if it's true.
This patch has made the game feel laggier and I've noticed that I've been dying a lot easier to more random things than previously. For example, a few random shots fly my way and next thing I know I'm downed, then dead, with the death report saying it was a heavy bolter, but considering the distance.... its far too sketchy.
I fully agree with @Nimrock In saying that, I did genuinely have fun on my first couple battles this patch. It's not a great game still, but i had fun in the two battles i've played so far. Until i dropped out.
Melee still needs to be reworked. The worldmap is still nowhere near where it needs to be. Optimization is still not quite there. The playerbase is still low. Hero classes are still missing. There is still a good chance that you may disconnect while loading. Guild system is very barebones. I don't want to sound doom and gloom, but there's a lot that this game still needs get before most of us can consider it finished.
