Come forth all minorities, and share your experiences!

I am amused/annoyed when people assume for example, the following:

    - DE are "chaos eldar" and worship the chaos gods
    - Someone says Dark Reapers are machinegunners
    - I say "Eladrith Ynneas" and some craffie comes and says "You mean the god of death, our savior?"
    - People arguing at me on TT when they can't kill my toughness 3 archon in one turn even though they are supposed to be "squishy" and bad like autarchs
    - "Craftworld Eldar and Dark Eldar have no reasons to ally with each other, they only kill each other in the lore."
    - Whenever someone says "Lelith" as "Lilith" or "Ravager" as "Ravanger" or "Raider" as "Sky Raider" or simply "eldar" as "elder".

So, again, come forth, and tell the whole world what lore-mistakes most annoy/amuse you!
    The Dalek Emperor likes this.
  2. Dark Eldar could be considered worshipers of slaanesh due to their habit of feeding souls to him, sure it's to stave off their own souls being claimed, but souls are souls.

To be perfectly serious, when people say the Emperor is dead, and babbling about the old corpse on the throne story.
He is deadly wounded, his physical body closer to death than to life, but he's being kept alive by the most advanced machine humanity has ever built, one that he himself helped building/modifying.
Yes, the machine may be slowly failing, and his body decaying - his mind, his soul however, are not. The time of death has not yet come, and whatever happens if it does - it will have a significant impact on the universe itself.

On a less serious note however, I do feel sad every time a Eldar/DA enthusiast speaks about lesser races, superiority and how all the rest of us are but childs - I always liked the impression of them being an old, wise race. Proud, yes, not as overly arrogant like some give the impression. Something like a old teacher, who learned from the failures of his past life (the Fall for instance), trying not to let his students make the same mistake again. Egocentric maybe, dismissive at times, but always with a lesson in mind.
  4. Technically he is dead, but only physically dead, his spirit just floats and helps a bunch of apes move through sphess.

That's the major difference between the DA and the Eldar. One's a sort of Sensei like teacher with a great amount of wisdom they believe has earned the respect of the other races stumbling around trying to figure out why they should focus on Chaos rather than each other, and the DA are basically hedonistic psychopaths that demand it by physically enslaving others to prove how much better they are ... while preventing their souls from being eaten. Old habits die hard... really hard.

    Mine:

That the Lore is Objective rather than Subjective.

Sure there are plenty of parts of the lore that are considered cannon; the Emperor is definitely on the Golden Throne, but is he alive? Is he dead? Is he somewhere in between? What's his soul doing in the Warp? Is it a tiny reed basket in a storm cast about the by Gods of Chaos, a supernatural force that guides the Astronomican, the Legion of the Damned, and the Imperium through great acts of faith and saints, or has He perished altogether, and the Imperium survives because Tzeentch has willed it to remain in his Eternal Game?

I mean really, any of these scenario's could be considered lore, but nothing but personal opinion makes it true. A brilliant play Tzeentch, brilliant indeed that we may discuss what exactly the Emperor is doing for all eternity as the war rages on....
    Chaos Lord Aadil likes this.

I think my favorite is how Abbadon didn't do anything during all twelve of his crusades because Cadia kept stopping him like a cork in a bottle.

I am annoyed when people (especially you! Mngwa) misspell Space Marines on purpose.

    "Spesh Mharines"
  8. That's not a "lore" error, in fact, it's not even a spelling mistake. We do it on purpose.

    Anyway, back on topic.

THINGS LIKE THIS. Just because you act debauched doesn't mean you are a Slaanesh worshipper. That's like saying all Space Marines are Khorne worshippers because they kill A LOT of people.

Um, other than the Tau and Orks, every race in 40k is extremely racist. This much is very, very obvious. We all hate each other, and all believe we are superior to everyone else. How many times, just on this forum alone, will you see Space Marines speak of "xenos scum" or "Suffer not the Xenos to Live"?
  9. I'm not even saying dark eldar act debauched i'm saying THEY LITERALLY FEED SOULS TO SLAANESH SO THAT THEY DONT GET THEIR OWN SOUL TAKEN. That's chaos worship.

Well my intent was not to say all the races should become magic friends, live in land full of rainbow farting unicorns and knit cuddly jumpers for each other. Of course there is hatred against other races, after all this is the grim-dark future where there is only war.

To me, people make Eldar feel like Space Marines sometimes, just with a more posh profanity - and that's not what they are. They are far more complicated than that. One could even argue that's not even a lore mistake, but rather a diverse conception of a race, and I can see that definitely.
But then again, that's just my opinion on that matter ;) .
