them 'replacing' her, and taking control of any tyranids, is utterly stupid and...put simply...bad writing.
Tyranids seem to have avoided invading the galaxy from the side where the eye of terror is located they are also apparently avoiding Necron tomb worlds too. They seem annoyingly smart. I am sure a Tyranid planetary invasion would get completely wiped out by an army of Daemons as they are unconsumable for the them.
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Fall_of_Shadowbrink This. I would like to read about a battle between Nids and Crons just to find the reasoning behind it and how well Hive Mind's strategies stand up to the ancient tactics of the Necrotyr
I stand corrected then though WH40k writing hardly make sense with its theories of combat especially with Tyranids being able to resist Tau Ion Cannons(atomic vaporisation) and Pulse weapons (solar hot matter). As far as I know the Necrons have engaged and destroyed Tyranid invasions once collaborating with the Blood Angels. Also a large Necron fleet that was awoken in Tau territory wiped out a small fleet of Gorgon bio ships as well. Not aware of any detail battles between the 2 forces.
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Gehenna_Campaign also the Necron Silent King is gathering the Tomb worlds to take out the Tyranids I am actually curious what would happen if a averaged sized Tyranid fleet were to attack the eye of terror.
Chaos vs Tyranids is a very unpredictable matter. Tyranids cut off Chaos from their greatest strength (Warp Energy) but Chaos strips Tyranids of the ability to adapt physically (Physical armour cannot under any circumstances withstand a Hellblade). Necrons vs Nids is a lot more simple. Necrons stomp until eventually Tyranids overrun.
