The Europan Conflicts AHRP OOC/Planning Thread

Discussion in 'Role Playing' started by CommissarGaunt, Jun 19, 2016.

  1. Dietschland was a word used to describe the "lower countries" of Europe such as the Netherlands and Belgium during World War 2, the word itself has died in usage which is why most people have never heard of it, the other spelling of it is Dietsland but that just looks weird to me. Germany is represented underneath the Empire as Allemania, the capital country of the Empire. Allemania is derived from the Romance and Muslim languages during the Roman times but would probably be recognizable as Austrasia from the Carolingian Era.

A comparison since it appears most people won't make the connection is the following:
    The Confederation of Atlantic States
    • Kingdom of Albion: The English Empire, better known as Britannia. The term was used by Pliny the Elder to describe Great Britain
    • City-States of Oestreminis: Portugal or Extreme West, from ancient Latin
    • City-States of Neustria: France underneath the Carolingian Era
    • Republic of Dietschland: Low Countries incorporating both Belgium and the Netherlands
    • Kingdom of Armenia: Representing itself and also Capitol country of the CAS
    • Kingdom of Flanders: Belgium before becoming the Low Countries
    • Duchy of Zeta: Montenegro underneath their principality name from 1356-1496
    • Republic of Hibernia: Ireland in Latin
The Principalities of the Free Nations
    • Kingdom of Helvetia: Switzerland in Latin
    • Kingdom of Archaea: Greece, name as a Roman province
    • Republic of Thule: Norway, Latin name originally shared with Sweden
    • Republic of Finlandia: Finland, name in the Russian language
    • Kindgom of Hesperia: Italy or Western Land as used by the Greeks
    • Republic of Batvia: Netherlands, more commonly known as the Batavian Republic
    • Duchy of Dania: Denmark in Latin
    • Republic of Svitjod: Sweden, an ancient Norse name
    The Eastern Europan Imperial Alliance
    • Kingdom of Pannonia: Hungary, their original name as a Roman province
    • Republic of Lechia: Poland, their original name during the 9th Century
    • Kingdom of Alemannia: Germany, adopted from the Romance and Muslim language though more commonly referred to as either Saxony or Teuschtland or Teutonia. Capital country of the Empire
    • Greater Kingdom of Rus': Ukraine when they were part of Russia during the Middle Ages
    • Lower Kingdom of Biela Rus': Belarus, the eastern slavic lands dominated by Lithuania
    • Duchy of Slavonia: Croatia, currently the eastern most region of modern-day
    • Kingdom of Ostmark: Austria aka "East March" former name used under the Nazis and the original name during Middle Ages
    • Republic of Great Moravia: Czech Republic in their official language, originally the eastern most region. The term Great Moravia though references the territorial holdings of 833-902
    • The Great Wastelands of Tartaria: Russia during the medieval times when they were disunified
    Other Countries
    • Imperial Empire of Japan: Guess who! Capitol country
    • Southern Republic of America: Remnants of South America
    • Northern Republic of America: Remnants of North America, primarily Canada. Capitol country.
    • Western Confederacy of America: The Phillipines and remnants of Korea
    • Kingdom of Ontario: Australia. Capitol country.
    • Republic of Genova: Random country, I guess they're closest to being Transylvania if it ever was an island. Capitol country.

This looks incredible! I can't wait to dive into this world of alchemy/steamtech! Already looking awesome, can't wait to see this world fully developed. I also may convert my Teutonic knight Kristoff if possible, or might go for a Jaeger

Question, are there new religions/religious orders?
    bossaroo and BuriasDempsey like this.
  3. Ok I can still work with that looks like good old Ferdinand is going to be having some issues at home given he's joined the other side. I can already see the hate and resentment from other soldiers during training or in his case retraining.
I would also like to know this. Also want to tie in something with ancient ancestors who had the same names and met during the Hundred Years' War just for fun?
bossaroo, Keidivh and BuriasDempsey like this.
  4. Religion never became fully rooted. While there is the idea of Christendom from the remnants of England, overall it has been abandoned and replaced with the belief of Science. Think of it as the same approach as in Full Metal Alchemist. It existed in the Old World, prior to the astronomical event, but in the New World, it no longer holds any relevance.

Symbols and icons are still used but they have zero religious significance.

    @TuskatheDaemonKilla
Yeah, seems like our guys will be kinda out of place, aw well, Ze Reich reigns supreme!! But yes we gotta do that, connection to our ancient ancestors! I like it

    @CommissarGaunt
I get that, but is it possible that these are still remnants of it? Be interesting to see how a religious guy would function in a world that's abandoned it

    I'm very sorry.

Hey, for us Germanic/Prussisns, could the Republic of Dietchsland act as a kind of refugee area for those who oppose the regime? Perhaps the center of Germanic resistance?
    BuriasDempsey and bossaroo like this.
  8. That's fine with me if you want to still believe in Religion but note that it will make you stand out and not in a good way.

While Dietschland is not the same country, they share the same culture historically. Allowed.
