JPAs getting their HP nerfed down considerably (specifically the regenerating armour) should help there. Likewise being able to soak 16 Bolter rounds as a GA, up from a max of 12, will make it more potent.

<- Totally agree JPA is seriously outclassing GAs atm.

Still think that fists get their horrid rep is because of jpa. I mean if I'm running at you as a GA with a fist you laugh. But if you see me dive bombing with a fist it's like...repent motherff2&:!r

Also a side note unless you are at a lowered health and or have no armor fist fast attack even from behind takes 2 hits. This I have discovered in almost any scenario. Now excuse me while I take my dual power fist jpa out for a spin

It's definitely very difficult to use without lockon because it tends to overshoot without dealing damage. It doesn't deal damage until the end of the swing so you can actually slide right past a target using manual aim.

I normally use manual aim so I notice the difference versus using another weapon.

Maybe it's time to look into autoaim. After all, I get kind of annoyed by people swinging choppas at my back when I'm in melee anyway and I think that's the biggest culprit since they're just on autopilot, literally.

I think the fist imbalance actually stems from its slide attack. The immediate in your face quick swing which plows over half of your health. Personally Im against the slide attack all together, but I believe it is making it impossible to balance certain weapons like the fist. I would be all for for decreasing the dive bomb time on the fist by a smudge if the slide attack was removed.

That actually isn't a problem for TT because the design is completely different. The version in game is not really a jump unit analogue from the TT, it's more like a jet pack infantry.

The difference is that a jump unit just has faster movement speed (12" compared to 6" against infantry), e.g. it gets into close combat faster (infantry make up for this with transports). A jet pack unit has the ability to "jump-shoot-jump," and is typically a Tau unit like a Crisis suit that can jump in, shoot a target then jump out 6" after the fact.

They've designed it completely ass backwards. Assault marines were supposed to be frontline assault troops, but they keep describing them like they are supposed to be reliant on being "nimble." An 8 foot marine in power armor with a chainsword and jump pack is not nimble. It's designed to blast full throttle into the enemy lines in a massive assault like a human missile, and then get stuck in for a fiercesome assault.
  6. If we did that though, we'd have to make GA's into living tanks to get anyone to play them probably. If JPA's ended up being GA toughness with their FAR superior mobility and access to same weapons, GA's would be a dead class usually unless we suddenly juiced the hell out of them and/or the Shield durability.

It's even worse with Orks since the Ork shield is even crappier by default. God damn autocannons still locking me into an awful stagger animation until shield breaks like 80% of the time, ugh.

I play GA Fist or Slugga with Klaw (neither with shield) because it actually provides some modicum of challenge and it forces me to play tactically.
  8. Well yeah I mean there's always going to be those people who play something for the fun of it or because of flavor etc etc. I mean back when the Powerfist was "bad" I used to use it all the time on CSM just because of the fun factor.

But overall, people will default to what works best, and that would end up being JPA's if they were designed as intended on the TT without juicing ground slogger to compete.

Nothing in EC is based on TT. Nor should it be. Totally dumbed down game as far as statistics go which suits it's gameplay perfectly.

Inspired by TT in some cases, and other franchise video games, but it officially goes: Lore + Game Balance > All.

I like what you're saying about the Vets yeah...but then if their spawn system was reworked, i'd restrict even the power weapons to them. At least in the state they are in now. Which they aint gonna be for long according to the upcoming patches and all...
