I was an Ork player. I'm only playing LSM since returning so you guys actually have a target that actually knows how to play and so that the newbs that join on these sale deals see that, yes Virginia, LSM ARE decent and CAN win when they want to. Not dealing with 50% of your faction being newbies and hardcore "brother brother brother" RP'ers should be incentive enough to play Eldar/Orks heh.
Yeah I hope they change the balancing thing somewhere along the line even just 30 seconds of having that 2-4 person handicap can change everything. Especially in a game all about objectives and not kills.
Ah I love all factions but I do agree RP (Screaming WAAAGH or talking "Ork-like") feels less awkward when I play an Ork, it's nice to talk like an Ork and get Orky replies too. Fun part is if you're pissed you don't have to break out of character.
The problem is that the game enforces the 3 player gap. If a 15 ORK vs 15 LSM match just ended, it'll proceed to do a 7 vs 10 and an 8 vs 11 match instead of another 15 vs 15 one. Naturally, the team with the least players is the most likely to go "Screw this" and leave, further increasing the gap. Hitting Battle Now on ork/Eldar is currently a vicious loop of either: Battle Now -> Start imbalanced match -> Lose before match becomes balanced. Battle Now -> Join in-progress match -> Lose because match was lost before you joined. This is specially noticeable when playing in off-peak hours.
I'm curious about this as well. When over half the player base is 1 of 4 factions there's gotta be something put in place to make them wanna spread out and not all focus on the one faction. This could be something like +% requisition for the lower population factions or something along those lines. Really there's not many incentives you can put in a game like this as there's not much you can reward the players with for choosing 1 faction over another. A requisition boost would only really work for a little while before it fell through as players would grind to rank 6 unlock all their boxes and move back to LSM. As it stands with the current systems in game I don't think they can really do anything and in general their hands are tied.
Maybe on a daily/weekly basis? The least played faction gets a %Req buff next day/week so people might circulate.
Very interesting. I wonder if the matchmaking it currently weighted to actually favour imbalanced games in order to assist the historic LSM performance? All other things being equal, are they meant to be lobsided to assist them ? If not, I cannot believe they would allow this kind of thing to go on for so long, it is clearly one the main issues with the game at the moment. If we actually had a functioning lobby, it might make it easier to assess.
