I know everyone's eyes are turned to bigger issues right now and the use of lock-on has been visited and revisited repeatedly over the course of the game but I did have a thought on it. Should smart pistols be removed from the game and have their non-breaking lock-on attributed to a cogitator mod instead?

They should be removed and there should be no cogitator mod, and lock-on is stupid and should not exist.
Pre-release I've got Eldar pistol mod that according to description was supposed to make it into smart pistol, so you could have mastercrafter smart pistol in theory(dmg still would be lowered as for normal pistol according to description). But just as eldar unique pistol and some other eldar fancy stuff from the boxes, it was obviously a placeholder.
I share the sentiment, but after so long and with the problems the game currently has this just won't be happening. This discussion is mostly here because....what other use would a cogitator mod have in a bolt pistol in EC?
Oh i had a perfect idea, remove smart pistols and make Cogitators transform regular pistols into smart pistols, but also paint them pink, change the particles to glitter and confetti and change the shot sound for a high pitched moan, to show everyone you're a little bitch for using that thing.
Easy brother, you sound like one of those smart pistols stole your cookie with a vengeance I mean, if you really use the Smart pistol, you gimp yourself against someone who got a normal one together with aiming skills, so why the rage?
It was more of a joke than anything, it's kinda hard to express yourself solely through text but yeah, i don't think they're OP or anything, just frustrating and pointless, just like lock-on, artificial ways of lowering the skill ceiling. I remember when the first and last time i've used that thing, enter a point, press ctrl, rape LMB, profit, 0 skill involved, 0 thought involved, disgusting.
