Not sure if you guys already went and talked to the devs already but I've noticed a few banners some CSM fans have. What about calling them Renegades? Sounds a lot better than Traitor and still keeps the connotations of being traitorous. I just can't see bE going with just 'Chaos Space Marine" it makes about as much sense of changing tactical to "Loyalist".
The difficulty with Renegade is that it has a very specific meaning in 40k lore. They're Space Marines who've left the Imperium, but not joined Chaos. I suspect GW would have concerns with that name being used for some of the main chaos legions. Chaos Space Marine is actually the lore correct name for the class.
I really do enjoy these banners through. Changing into it also motivated me to get my own avatar picture too. What headway has been made by the way? Aside from sporting this nifty banner, i'd like to help.
Some were tricked into it by chaos and even returned to the emprah. But even in the time line of things they are more well known now as chaos than traitors.
