Wonderful analysis guys, good to see you all take so much pride in what you say and deliver quality contributions. Dungeons and dragons online disables you from selling stuff you get from cash shop, so if you buy a +3 tome of str you can't turn around and sell it for millions; you have to use it. That game is still pay to win, although it may be their life support because they were financially struggling before 2010 or so when they went f2p.
How do people feel about passive, squad-wide buffs? The squad commander could pay a small amount of real life money to buff his whole squad, in a certain way? For instance: and Ork Nobz squad could be buffed to do more melee damage, with real life funds? I ask because, as opposed to buying a certain item for cash, the buff would be temporary, and the buff is small but applied to an entire squad? And I'd bet something similar could be found via grinding.
No. Stat altering = P2W. Cosmetics only. If LoL can be totally F2P and still making millions off of its akin sales. EC can and should follow the same path. I'm happily buying the game though lol.
I absolutely HATE the chest with X possibilities of Dota. Dont sell keys/chests, sell the cosmetic item I wanna buy DIRECTLY.
You cannot buy runes for Rp. You can buy extra rune pages, and players get a massive amount of mastery trees for free ( like 10, I've yet to need any more than that). It is therefore not P2W.
One thing that i wouldn't mind to see in shop is XP boosts, but i wouldn't allow them from the game launch(and would also limit number of boosts you can buy for a character per year), but as a means for people that started playing later to be able to advance faster, and partially catch up to Veteran players. For instance, i like Eve, but since if you didn't start 7-8 years ago you will always lack skills that older players have, and also you need to play 1-2 years to learn skills to be able to fly bigger ships, so lot's of people give up on the game, or buy older characters trough ebay.
Miguel has said in an interview that weaponry bought in the shop may be up to 20% weaker than weapons that are earned properly. Pay to win will not exist.
