The Brave and the Baleful (Super Hero/Villain IC)

  1. "I offer employment you self righteous, lead spewing prick!" Nightmare shouted at the vigilante with indignant rage at the petty insults thrown at him as hears the ominous clink if something being dropped right next to him. Flipping his cane around and holding it as a golf club, he swings to knock the live Grenade away and hopefully back at his new nemesis. This was more to save himself than his workers or the creature, doubting he had the time to run to a safe distance with everyone in front of him. He would admit his swing would be rusty, haven't actually been to the course for months now. And the fact the golf ball was a live explosive didn't really help matters either

    Rin writes down 1 bowl of Shio Ramen then looks at her. "That will be $12.54." When she pays she will hand off the ticket to the spool so the cook can take the order.'That's a new one a female the despises all men interesting but everyone plays there part in this world whether your a criminal or Police officer.' as Rin thought that but everyone has there part to play in this world. Some darker that others.

    Seeing the superhuman authorities' presence as a general threat to their continued existence, the Colony slowly took a few steps backward before breaking into a run. Soon, much too soon probably, they decided to dissolve themselves for a better getaway. With a 'pop', the woman burst into an explosion of spiders and gear, the largest and swiftest quickly snatching up everything they could and the smaller ones providing cleanup duty, before splitting up and moving to return to base... for now.
  4. "Right then 'Jack', you and her need to wait here until-- Hey!" Argos shouts after Colony as they run for it. Before he can catch them, they bursts apart in cloud of spiders, which scatter around and disappear into the sewers. Argos stands still for moment, processing the sight before him. Tricks, transforming, body replacement technique? First time for him to see someone turn into spiders.

    "...okay." Argos notes and turns back to the 'Jack', determined not to let this one get away.

    "Wait were is she going! Wait!" Lazarus said going with Argos until he saw the women who he was following turn into a cloud of spiders.

    "Oh God spiders nope fuck that!" Lazarus said suddenly seeing a chance to escape he made a fake fall into sewage and swim/let himself be taken by the sewage current.

    While this was the worst/best plan Lazarus had he knew he would reek of saewage for a while and would likely need a bleach wash for this.
  6. So either Argos was really incompetent as his job or the eye witnesses all are master escapees. Left standing alone, and honestly speaking, humiliated, he tucks the notebook back to his belt with heavy sigh and joins other officers in securing the crime scene. At least it can't magically vanish from his fingers.

    With the two witnesses having made their escape, one turning into spiders (Ick) and the other falling into the sewage (double ick), Phoenix turned to Argos (@GoreWrencha ) and said with a smile on her face "I hope you don't have the same issues with police property as you do with witnesses."
    With that said, she started to secure the rest of the scene, hellfire flicking and whispering in her hands to help her find anything that normal crime scene investigators were not likely to consider as evidence.

    The Xenomorph like creature began cackling as Nightmare managed to hit the grenade back at the Warden with nearly perfect form no less. Luck still seemed to be latching onto the Warden however as his grappling hook pulled him just out of the blast radius keeping him from harm. The fire didn't touch Nightmare or the workers either but it was clear at this point that they had enough of this. "Fuck this and the Craveloft's money." One of them mumbled as the turned and began leaving taking particular care in avoiding the xenomorph like creature. The creature on the other hand moved forward towards Nightmare with it's smile as wide as ever. "I suppose if being around you is this much fun I could stick around." It said as it seemed to hear something farther down the tunnel. "Huh that lady was just spiders.... Weird...." Meanwhile Warden had managed to get into a hidden position among the various pipes in the ceiling.

    After the little fiasco of both strange individuals escaping in one way or another the homeless people more or less fell in line some of which were clearly traumatized from the attack by the monster and others mostly just confused. "The damn thing ate Paul." One of them said as they covered their face with their hands as others mumbled similar things. "Was that woman just spiders?" Another asked as they looked down the tunnels and others shivered after witnessing such a things. These people were scared and confused, a perfect combination to start a riot. "You guys are really shit at your jobs aren't you?!" One of the younger men said looking to the agents with anger in his voice. "The government lets you have your powers so you can protect us but you let shit like that happen!" He said as he approached the supers and a couple of like minded individuals followed him. "That fucking thing killed some of our family and you just let it walk away? What the hell are you supposed to be anyways?! A bunch of super powered government dogs on a leash?!" More of the homeless people seemed to agree with him and stood up grabbing blunt objects.

    The spiders would make their way through the tunnels until they came across an open hatch. Thinking it was the one they had opened with their axe the colony moved upwards and into the light. Meanwhile the hooded figure crouched next to the reporter keeping the cane at his neck. "Of course you are." He said as he heard something coming up the hatch. "The hell?" He let the cane drop from the reporter's neck as he looked down and his face turned pale at whatever he was seeing and jumped onto the wall of the alley way. His fingers dug into the masonry as he clung to the wall at least twenty feet up with his cane in his off hand having spiraled into a sword like implement. It's once black wooden exterior had turned into sharp spiraling edge though it's intricate handle remained the same. "You might want to move Mr." He said as the first of the spiders made their way into the light. All the while a pale woman on her hoverbike stuffed with fresh loot could see this strange scene unfolding as she sped by on her way home.

    Lazarus' method of escape albeit a messy and unpleasant seemed to work as no one followed him most likely because no one wanted to jump into the sewage. He would swim or float down the river of unmentionable filth until he managed to grab a hold of the edge of the river and pull himself onto a walk way. He was lost in the middle of a massive sewer system that was apparently filled with monsters and covered in raw sewage but hey at least he escaped the cops.

    @GobMaw_HellSmasha
    The monster would smash open a hatch and climb his way to the surface in what looked to be a rundown part of the outskirts of the city. Novus might look like a shinny example of technology and innovation at it's center but there were plenty of places like this near the boarder of the urban expanse and the artificial countryside and wildlife preserve. A nice place to hide out and plan it's next move if anything else.

    @Schalli
    As soon as Gabriel stepped into the vehicle, the doors were shut but the vehicle started moving, but it was slow enough that he stood a rather good chance of getting out of the vehicle without getting hurt too bad. Evidently, privacy was required as the driver's back window was completely blacked out and presumably sound proofed too. When the doors to the limo was shut, Vasco then said to him "Simply put, I need you to deal with a group of street hoodlums that have been intimidating stores that were once quite happy paying me money to protect them..... However, the WBSA's arrival has tied my Family's hands. If you would be so gracious to take care of them, I would think an extra 25 thousand in your account would go some way in providing you some funds?"

    @Valonox
    Hearing another woman's voice, the older one replied "Here you go, best support each other with a world filled with pigs." Needless to say, Rin got exact change as the frumpy woman took her seat in the waiting area for her meal, seemingly content to whittle the time away upon her smartphone, while a group of men with a few women among them started to gather outside the storefront. It was somewhat obvious that they were poking fun at the woman, given the discreet pointing and laughing, given what was on the woman's phone.

    The seeker of Eldritch truths made it to his home without issue besides the usual strange looks someone dressed like him would get from the average passer by as they went on their own business. Exactly what he planning was known only to him and his masters in the void. The news of mundane things such as the disappearances in the sewers seemed to not interest his mind but void had spoken of a book. One of ancient origins and holding many secrets, it's true name was lost to humanity but the few that had managed to procure it called it the Liber Umbrarum. It's exact location was unknown at the moment but from what the whispers in the void spoke it was definitely in Novus.

    The hooded figure walked into his house, or more accurately, his partly hidden hovel.

    Research papers were strewn across the floor, as were more mundane belongings (He was still at least partly human, after all) and he took off his cloak.

    The young man walked through his home and looked himself in the mirror. A thought that had struck him multiple times returned. Perhaps he would hold off the completion of his master's plans for a while. After all, he did somewhat desire a normal life, or at least a semblance of it. Perhaps a friend or two....

    He snapped his mind from those musings and began planning. The Liber Umbrarum was somewhere in Novus...... that wasn't really helpful. Novus was a City, and therefore very expansive. He sat down on his bed - also covered in trash, he wasn't very organized - and searched on his computer.

    He knew that mysticism and spiritualism was a real belief system, with shops and organizations openly and overtly embracing it. Most of it wasn't connected to his line of work, but perhaps if he found a mystic shop of some sort nearby, with a perfect combination of reviews regarding spiritual results, shady backstory and appropriate location for the hidden powers of the world, maybe he'd find a lead regarding the Tome. It was the first step to his plan.

    (OOC: He's basically looking up places that claim to have spiritual power behind them to see if there's any truth among the riffraff)

    Scrambling to his feet Trent climbed into the nearest dumpster, fumbling for his camera. He nearly dropped it several times as he tried to get pictures of the mass of spiders coming up from the hatch leading to the sewers. Were they the cause of the disappearances? This could be a huge lead if it was true. He tried to remain calm as he shuddered at the sight, the whole time he was ready to bolt out of there if the spiders came after him. He didn't bother taking any pictures of the boy, or even pointing his camera in his direction. Once the spider group left he would talk with him again, if he stuck around.
