You missed a few pictures: http://www.warhammer-forum.com/index.php?showtopic=237225&p=2854769 ~edit: there's a picture somewhere of the hearthguard berserkers rules (the ones with the flail-halberd... things), I'll see if I can remember where I saw it.
While I would have liked a more varied take on the dwarves, this is a much better and much more ornate variety of slayer lookalikes than we've had in past editions. I'll be interested to see where this goes.
I like their new design and weapons as well, but I fear the changement in their lore. They basically switched from dishonored dwarfs seeking glorious death in battle.... to mercenaries....
Well, there are traces of those elements present in the Slayer cult. Even if they focused upon honour and glory in death, quite often they did serve as sellswords to various Empire companies, Border Prince armies and expeditions. Hell, quite a few of the Gotrek and Felix books involved them serving as guards for a noble or serving as auxiliary troops for main companies. This said, I would definitely agree that there needs to be more dwarven traits of the old lot added back in, more than just a love of money.
Love of money? They're not looking for ur-gold because of a "love of money", but because it is fragments of Grimnir, that they embed in their skin to gain some of his power (or so they believe, at least). They are not "slayers", who took an oath to die a glorious death in battle. They are fyreslayers (yay for GW dumb naming sense... again), who are large clans of Grimnir devotees, over-zealous berserkers willing to do anything to get closer to their god. But for all we know, the Steamhead duardin may still have access to our "usual" slayers.
So... are they totally rewriting every race's general personality and flavour? I miss old slayers already...
You know what? I'll say this: I'v been too harsh on Age of Sigmar. At the start I was super cynical about them removing Slaanesh to make it more kid friendly, but they were actually trying to do something with it and have released a number of short stories about it. I was concerned about the actual world building, but now they are actually trying to flesh out the realms and their role in the greater story. Am I convinced they needed to blow up the Old World for this? Certainly not, but Age of Sigmar at least has effort put into it to try and make something good. If it was either NOTHING or this happening then i'd happily take this, Age of Sigmar gets a pass. 6.8/10, cause it's about as good as Shenmu.
