Being able to have cover on command would be very useful, even if only single person cover like Battlefield 2142 support class had. So useful that I'd wonder what other factions get in response and would all these players deploying their own cover disrupt the game too much. So probably best to limit it in some way by giving such a thing to an Elite class if at all. ----Off topic---- "- as a Dire Avenger you're able to go for a melee build if you choose -" - said in a livestream here @57:37 when the RTS item Mael Dannan (DA Dire Sword) was revealed. In combintion with Brent saying Exarch only weapons will be accessible by non-exarchs in some capacity, said in answer to a question about it here. I take that to mean any Dire Avenger basic class can kit themselves out to be melee focused if they have the gear to do so.
I don't think taking the mael dannan means you will be without a shuriken catapult, but you would be sacrificing grenades or support gear for point cost.
I'm inclined to think it means exactly that. You will be left with a Shuriken Pistol, even the Exarchs on TT don't get to keep their catapult. However, I read somewhere that the devs reckoned DAs were the only class to have certain gear restricted to an Exarch Elite class. Who knows though. Also there's the whole Loadout system coming through yes, but on top of that the 'Veteran' system if you spend a lot of XP on one class (e.g. Assault, Tactical or in Eldar terms, Striking Scorpion and Dire Avenger). Thinking along that line.. what's the Eldar version of a Veteran Dire Avenger... anyone? Exarch? Yes, no? Maybe? Let's see how the Devs do that.
I wonder how much gear the warlock will be able to take in conjunction with his abilities we hope he has.
Once Brent and Nathan said that they wanted leveling to make a difference and that their would only be enough points to max out a single class, making most that did a to go-to player when they were needed. I assumed from that statement that this is exactly what the max level ability would do, make you an "exarch". Not truly sure if that's the case, though, but I like to think so.
