Bowling into the training servitors, Godric sent several of them stumbling backwards before tossing one in a shower of sparks with his Storm Shield. Las shots impacted his Storm Shield with a sizzle and pop as he used his Frost Axe to block an incoming buttstroke attempt. "To me brothers!" He bellowed while the others quickly took up their own positions or followed him into the fray. [1 servitor down, 2 servitors wounded] [23 servitors remaining] (OOC: didn't see numbers from anyone else so just decided to tally my own haha)
With a quiet pop, another servitor falls. And he repeats this over and over. Alton follows the group from above providing both cover fire and sniper support. (3 more servitors 'dead', 20 remaining.)
"I have the rear." Milinda said as she raised her flamer as she began moving and firing a training spray that would decativate the servitors slowly if they moved onto it or were covered in it. Attempting to stop any servitors from Perusing she would fire a spray towards the ground to stop charges at there rear.
Jeb moved quickly despite his age firing off training bolts at the servitors knocking down two from impact. He then activated the power field set to the safety setting as he punched one of the more melee oriented servitors hard in the face propelling it to the ground in an instant. His face remained stern but people that knew how he moved could tell he was having fun.
After the Imperials finished their run in a record time on-board this vessel, beating it just by half a second, it was time for the Eldar to make their approach. They might have noted how well the Imperials did work together, despite their different backgrounds and how it was necessary. From Alton's 95% accuracy as sniper support over Milinda's zealous flames that washed over the servitors that attempted to ambush the group up to the very Crimson Fist himself - Jeb. No simulated enemy stood a chance in their path and the non-lethal protocols leaving two dozen deactivated machines behind. And once the course was prepared, the Imperials were allowed to observe the Eldar from an observation platform usually reserved for the drill sergeants. It was an uneven start since the group of Aliens did not fight much together yet and their combat doctrines differed a lot. Warlock Firria Ken'Aela as the Seer's right hand automatically attempted to seize control of the squad. Telith as a Black Guardian might be used to it, but Tan'seren Ra the Pathfinder not so much. Eager yet in complete self control the pathfinder moved twice as fast as Jeb ever could imagine he could, even if he was to switch his power fist for a saber. Cutting Servitors almost like a one-woman-army down. Only to be stopped when Aderin failed to impress his peers with a warp jump and landed right on top of her, causing both to topple down to the ground and be swiftly eliminated through training-weapon grades of the Servitors. Vorin much in disappointment of his fellow digit of Khaine was left as the single warrior, dancing between the enemies and striking where he could. But he was too risky where Telith was too careful and the group worked completely out of rhythm. It was not long until the Warlock found himself alone, surrounded by six Servitors, out of the remaining 10 in the course. And no matter how vigilant he fought, he only managed to take half of them down before he found his end of the first trial. The Eldar had a few minutes to reconsider their approach and quickly knew where they had to improve and that more communication was to be used. Telith would remain on range with the Shuriken Catapult, Aderin would aid as flexible supporter. Tan'seren and Vorin would be the vanguard while Firria would orchestrate everything from the center. And in fact the tactic worked much better and through superior Eldar physiology and senses they were shadowing the time of the record breakers just before them - decimating the Servitors as if they were mere toys. And all went well until on the final stretch the Skitarii trio popped up just between Firria and Telith. Their weapons must have malfunctioned as they were not on mere training levels but on live firing patterns. A high-focused las beam went straight through the guardian armor on the short distance and right into the kneecap, causing the non-warrior to whine in pain. Even though the Enforcer did hit the emergency shut off button, it was Alton who brought an end to the madness through his accuracy and reflexes that sent a single shot that killed all three, due to their single row formation. Aderin quickly caught the Artisan and then got him to an Eldar healer. After the seer and the celestarch had heard of the events, they quickly interrupted the routine leaving it undecided whether Eldar or Humans were superior. The Eldar were left to their own devises in their quarters or free to move anywhere on the ship. The humans, including Adrian Trent van Drakken, would be questioned about the events by both Lady Belisarius and Farseer Blackstar... The group was just awaiting the arrival of both factions' leaders. OOC: The Eldar players can do as they please on the vessel. As mentioned in the OOC @Maleth doesn't feel comfortable playing a craftworlder (a thing he mentioned prior to the RP start), so I take him out of the player roster but he can come back anytime he wants. Also this actually gives me opportunity for some plot stuff I wanted to include anyway The Human players can talk amongst themselves as they sit in the briefing room, Drakken is also there. Next GM post will be the arrival of Naeryndas Blackstar and Persephone Belisarius which will question you lot regards the events that transpired. "Of course this would happen right when it was getting good!" Growled Godric. He was more annoyed by the disturbance in the training/competition than by what happened. "Drakken what happened to those servitors? Chances of a malfunction are highly unlikely, who had access to them before we arrived at the training grounds?"
At least they had some time for brief analysis of the situation and take some forensics before they were urged to get into the briefing hall here. "Myself, Cadian Majors, Elysian Majors, whomever did run the course before you, the Celestarch obviously and our Chief Enginseer on-board." Drakken shrugged. "I doubt personally that it was actual sabotage, rather that their self defense protocols identified Xenos intruders and went to live ammunition, thinking the training had been interrupted. After all they ran on Skitarii protocols, rather than standard Combat-Servitors."
The Warp Spider gave off an uneasy sigh after a few seconds, looking over the hugh-mins for a few seconds before going to remove his helm - he'd at least gotten the man to safety, and that was as much as he could ask for. Aside from the training going better - the Servitors had been surprisingly durable for something Imperium-made, in his mind. And now with the supposed 'defense protocols', well... They were at least as unreliable as he suspected. Unfortunately, now he was a bit unsure on how to go about it: he knew humour would only sour the mood!
Jeb had his pointer finger and thumb squeezing the bridge if his nose while he sat in a chair, a low growl emanating from his mouth. "Indeed. But if it was sabotage I will tend to the matter personally, perhaps make a show of it with a firing squad or simply throw them out an air lock. Though I hope it was a simple error and that no one here was stupid enough to jeopardize our mission. I apore these xenos but I also take my duties with the upmost professionalism." Throne he needed a drink. Things were going so well with the xenos but then a trio of servitors just had to malfunction in the middle of a training exercise. If it was human error said human was going to be shot and if they were simply faulty servitors he was going to smash them with the fist the Mechanicus be damned.
"Ha nothing like a summary execution to lift the spirits!" Jerking his head to the left and right, he cracked his neck. "If it was sabotage your execution will be swift compared to what I would do! Jeopardizing a mission of this importance is like spitting directly in the Emperor's eye!" He stood up and began pacing, his anger at the possible affront growing steadily. "Gonna need to smash some more of those servitors when this is through... Or have some Fenrisian Ale."
