ADAD is not a personal skill which you should be proud of. You use a failure in a system and use it for your advantage, which is in my book, cheating.

@Oveur what is your take on ADAD-SYNDROM? Is it OK to use it or not?

Edit: what about the "grenade-shooting" too? Yep OK or no way?!

Not sure how old you are, so this might be lost on you...but I remember going to Putt Putt, (local arcade) and playing Street Fighter II. I was a Ken and Ryu fan and was some what decent, not great, but I could hold my own. But I had a friend who played Dhalsim, and was a master at cornering people and Yogaing the shit out of people. He would get you in a corner and then it was done. He was that good at the cheapness of the character. He knew the ins and out to the point that eventually NO ONE would play him.

People would see him walk up to the machine and they would just leave. And it wasn't fun for anyone, except him at first. Then he realize that when you're THAT asshole, people don't like to play with you. And he was doing everything legit. It just wasn't FUN, and damn sure wasn't worth my tokens. And we told him so. We SHAMED him for being such an asshole. It got to the point that he would only play Dhalsim when someone else needed a lesson in humility.

Games are supposed to be about FUN. And yes, losing to ass hatery and jinky bullshit is not fun.

The lines and balancing in this game can be awful to compound it with players (esp vets) adding to it with crappy sportsmanship. You can say "git gud" all you want, but there is absolutely NO learning curve in this game. You either figure it out on your own or you rage quit.

I still don't know what half the commands are and I have to search the internet (thank god for Valrak's youtube) to figure out what the hell to do.

Casuals keep a game alive, not hard core folks. Casuals are more apt to waste their money on shiney's then hard core gamers. And if they don't have fun they will leave.

look at the comments after a game, yes you see the GG's but also a lot of bashing...because childish attitudes are fueled by keyboard courage.

All I am saying is if you wouldn't want something done to you, or said to you, you probably shouldn't encourage/do/say those things.

The people complaining aren't the ones you should worry about, because they at least care enough to say something when you're being a jerk. It's the people who quietly walk away and you NEVER get the chance to change their image of you. They are the ones who will tell their friends not to play with you or your game.

And since we NEED people to play this game...it behooves us to play nice.

But you are right...what the hell do I know...

in every post I've made I've pointed each time that I don't ADAD, I can't I suck ass at it, I struggle to keep the cursor on the head of a target while I juke back and forth, what I've been saying is that while I don't like it, I dont feel the need to cry about something in the game intended or not. I would be pleased as punch if bE removed it or nerfed it but until that time, get better and play around it or get good at it yourself. Refusing to adapt to mechanics found in a game is your fault not the players using it.

There is a big difference between saying "I don't like ADAD spam and it should really be removed" and saying "I don't like ADAD spam, it should be removed and people using it are destroying the morale fabric of America ruining this game and are horrible people"

I wonder how much hate rocket jumpers got in Quake by people that couldn't accept it, or the first quickscopers in Counterstrike/CoD..

I respect what you are saying, but I'm saying that it isn't CRYING. It's SHAMING. There is a deference.

    1.
the painful feeling arising from the consciousness of something dishonorable, improper, ridiculous, etc., done by oneself or another:
    She was overcome with shame.

The problem with people saying that ADAD is fine is that they are trying to justify bad behavior.

And that is rife in society today. People are constantly doing things that make people's head turn and that they think are wrong, but rather then being shamed for it, when people call them out on it, THEY are shamed...it is absolutely backwards.

Yeah glad I don't know you, 36 btw

instead of quoting your other post I'll add this.

know what else is rife in today's society? Safe spaces created by people that can't face reality...

That we can agree on, but I have a feeling that we come at the same conclusion from different view points.

You see, I'm not saying that the PEOPLE using ADAD are bad people per se, I'm saying the BEHAVIOR is bad. I'm shaming the behavior.

People don't like to feel bad, they want to feel that they are good (everyone wants to be liked/right) so by having a safe space they don't have to deal with other people telling them that their behavior is wrong/bad.

Now we didn't call our Dhalsim playing friend a bad person, we just told him that we weren't going to play with him anymore, because it wasn't fun, and if he continued to use those cheap tactics that was fine, just we wouldn't play SF with him. We still played D&D, Star Wars, and other games, just not that one.

And he admitted what he was doing was cheap and shitty. And he was FORCED to accept what his friends felt, or just not play with them. That is LIFE. That is compromise and communication and dealing with people.

People want safe spaces today to avoid the truth about themselves and THEIR behaviors. Because they don't want to be told that maybe what they think and what they are doing isn't exactly fair or right.

The online gaming community has made it extremely easy for people to stop being "guter mensch". We resort to childish behaviors because people can't call us on our bullshit.

I have not seen ONE person say ADAD was a fair and amazing thing, but I've seen a lot of justifying of it's use.

When you have to justify your use...well that kinda says it all.

Est Sularus Oth Mithas, (my Honor is my life). I try to live by that in all things, be it my job on the streets to being a father and teaching my son and daughter fair play, to when I was a sergeant leading soldiers. Honor in everything, because when I'm dead and gone all I'll be is what I put out to others. I want to be remembered as the guy who may have lost some fights, but I was always honest and fair. (yes, I played a lot of Paladins growing up)

And yes, I agree that there is more gray then black and white, I still believe that taking personal responsibility for ones actions is better than shifting the blame to others.

And honestly, I think I'd probably enjoy sitting down with you and having a beer and a chat, because you put together your thoughts and ideas in a very mature and coherent manner, which is another thing sorely lacking today.

    (and I'm 40 btw)

People feel the need to justify the use because of all of the hate ADAD gets on an almost daily basis imo.

Wel adad strafing and hitscan weaponry have been going hand in hand for decades now in game development as actual mechanic's we can play around. as in mouse aim vs keyboard dexterity or something.

If it was nerfed people would still do it . just differently
As an avid ps2 player we still adad in ps2 despite it being nerfed with momentum making it impossible to spam . in which case you just basicly end up standing more or less on the same spot jerking around giving your self movement penalties for nothing.
we do this adad dance because even tho you can't adadadad really quickly like twizzlers ere does , if you strafe a 3 step orso pattern and shoot when you actually stand still at the end of a step you still present a harder to hit target especially vs lower velocity lower fire rate weapons where you can still literally be walking between the shots.

and if that doesn't work people will do the old sit down and shoot to avoid headshots strategy.
and than that needs to get nerfed etc etc where does it end ?

I think its a better plan to just redo the net code , make 100% sure there is no hitbox de-syncing which I'm sure there is , i've gotten so much video evidence where i'm hitting people that are not even with in line of sight yet i'm getting hit markers by shooting the air behind them as it were.

And than eventually ..hopefully .. open up more servers so ppl can get better ping .
these 2 things combined should reduce adad spams effectiveness greatly.
Because it looks like it's currently only a big deal do to the game's limitations not the actual mechanics behind it.
We can always take a look at it again once these issues have been addressed.

I already notice quite a difference between the 2 servers as one has 100 ping more than the other for me ,I can't imagine what ppl in some parts of the American continent or like in Australia must feel when playing this game. its no wonder it can't retain players , like only a small part of the world is actually within acceptable ping value's with this small number of servers.
I imagine it feels like trying to play a game at 20 fps or something despite your machine running it on 180 fps =D

With good reason is the point though.

I guess I'm the first type than. Anyways, I might be not a good player and should improve my playstyle, but I refuse to ADAD to get an advantage. If I lose because I don't use it, fine, but when winning it is earned the righteous way.
