In the Space Marine fanction art we see a BA Terminator. We also see an armored nob in the ork art. So my guess is , there will be "tank" classes that will feature terminator/heavy armor. The speculation to have armour classes as in "mail , plate" etc but instead naming them "power , terminator" etc would be quite bad. All races have a certain armor technology and the few exceptions that differ , wear armor that is specialised , not better. Terminators might be much more armored and bulkish but they are very slow. GW intented them to be for Space Hulks only but changed this fact due to high demand of the Termis becoming part of the force in general. I think the difference in armour sets should be about quality , as in "relic armor" , "master crafted" etc. And as i said , termis will propably be a seperate "tank" class , not a set.
The most lore friendly way to go about it is to limit it to members of the first company in each chapter and have those spots be limited. Though that also means that NO ONE else can get access until a spot is opened which is rather unfair.
I sort of like that idea. 1st Company honours should be exactly that; honours. I'd like to see units like Terminators be an exception rather than a rule and when they're deployed to a battlefield the enemy should stand up and take notice. Similar (although not quite as prestigious as) to when a Dreadnought, Wraithlord or Killa Kan hits the field. One of those "shit just got real" moments.
Meh just make "promoted to first company" or "terminator honours" an achievement after unlocking certain things or a set level or whatever. Eventually everyone will have it anyway, it seems people don't think that these same factors need to apply to all four races in someway, lore is nice but i'd rather have a good game.
The problem with everyone getting it is that it won't be special anymore and it will lose it's meaning. You have to choose between making something really rare and awesome to see and going with the whole instant gratification for all.
Careful what you wish for. Having every man and his dog rolling around in Terminator Armor isn't "a good game". If everyone is in the 1st Company then why have the 1st Company at all? Makes the whole thing pointless and hamstrings character diversity.
I get that these should be fairly rare, but i think everyone worrying about them being OP are being a little too paranoid. Heavy Weapons still drop Terminators as easily as anything else. Plus Ork Nobz in Mega Armor are a great counter to them. Eldar have Wraithblades and Wraithguard which are both arguably alot more scary than a Terminator. Chaos Terminators are good too, and have a broader choice of weapons than standard marines. I think it will all balance out, but i do agree the numbers should at least be limited in some way. I like the idea of having to earn the right to wear one and have it be as a late game unlock or something.
And then we go to the flip side where people quit the game because they can't play what they want. Making it unlockabe is fine, eventually most everyone will have it unlocked, that's a fact. They are not suited for every battle, they are slow and high priority targets being easy to see at a distance and easier to hit. Why do people think 90% of their faction will be termies and all in one area?
It's a balancing act as I've said. You can't realistically limit the ability to use Terminator Armor to the 1st Company unless those spots were rotated week by week or something by vote. Otherwise it would be the same people every single time.
