I'm not so sure. In Space Marine, the Devastator class has the highest armour value which can be improved further with the Iron Halo perk - You still see plenty of assault & tactical marines on the battlefield because there are loads of players that prefer a quicker play-style or different weaponry. And also because devastators movement & ability to evade attacks is considerably slower Even if Terminator armour is eventually available to all (through high rank level etc) i still think they'll be players that will prefer not use it. Even so, for all the pluses TDA brings, the devs will add in negatives for sure.
This conversation is boiling down to two points of view very quickly. Clearly Anshar is willing to sacrifice GW canon/lore for gameplay. Others are not. I guess this is the crux of the issue here. Do you make Terminator Armour available in-line with Games Workshop lore, or do you hand it out willy nilly. Do you make Assault Marines in-line with Games Workshop lore, or do you give them items and equipment they wouldn't/shouldn't have access to for the sake of what some would call fun? My view is that by tampering with the lore you're making the game less appealing. Having a 100 Terminators in the 1st Chapter is less likely to turn me away from the game than Behaviour Interactive making Terminator Armour a temporary buff. Messing with the canon/lore/setting is a really slippery slope.
I'd like to see terminator armor for sure, but I'd first like to see exactly what kind of game we are dealing with in the actual firefights before suggesting any potential changes.
I agree that having loads of Terminators everywhere would be a bad thing, but why would I work towards something temporary when I could be working towards something permanent like a weapon or armor?
Four hundred, there's four chapters. Again I bring up jedi in early SWG, some people will grind their ass our for it, some wont care. I just don't see why everyone expects too see nothing but a hundred termies in one spot all the time when your fighting over an entire planet.
Unlocking a new weapon and becoming a Termie for a given amount of time will probably draw from different resource pools like in Planetside 2.
Its a difficult one. I'd like to see TDA something taking ages to get that you have to work hard to achieve. Something to aspire to in the game - similar to lore. Once achieved its your to keep
'Temporary' shouldn't even come into it. MMOs are about progression. I'm sure they can find a way to implement Termies without making them either cheap/OP or non-special. Also factor in that some people (i.e. decent RPers) won't always want to use them all the time?
fully agree. Progression is important, and removing that factor from a class that has the potential to be properly balanced is silly.
