Teamkilling Prompt - Vote poll inside!

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Fiesty_Won, Jul 29, 2017.

?

How should the teamkill prompt function?

  1. Hold E to forgive (current state)

  2. Hold E to punish

  3. Don't care, learn fire discipline!

Results are only viewable after voting.

Look man this game is going to be full of teamkilling and just a result of the craziness. Sometimes the prompt comes up, sometimes it doesn't. Even if it does a lot of times I am way to busy to notice. Also, there is 0 doubt in my mind new players will not notice it which means guaranteed being punished even if it is their own fault.

I know for myself I almost always forgive unless its a blatantly obvious, vindictive teamkilling going on. Which happens maybe one time out of 100 matches.

    So see vote proposal below!

Hold E to forgive, punishment should be the primary, you only forgive if you want to. You shouldn't get a free forgive just because someone didn't push a button while they were busy in-game.

On the flip side, I do feel the option should stick around a bit longer, or be more intuitive and obvious (visually).

I'd like it if TKing people and "Vote to kick" both counted for the same pool.

Say now, it takes half the team (Uually around 7-10 votes) to kick someone. But every TK they do get that number down.

So in a way if someone TK's you and you want to extra-punish them, pressing vote-to-kick would be equivalent as counting him for 2 TK's.

Add total friendly damage done stat in the scoreboard so the team know who to kick.

It's a very polarizing topic, because in many cases the forgive doesn't actually work, I've been TK'ed a lot of times and as I hold E to forgive it doesn't freaking work.... but that doesn't necessarily mean it should be E to punish. It's just a bit jenk lol

To be honest it should be a different key than E, because having the primary use-key for it can lead to unintended effects

There had been cases where i had got downed by friendly fire, forgive him then died to his nade and had to forgive him again but pressing E didnt do anything anymore at that point. :p

    Just remove friendly fire.

  8. Agreed.

The feature is fine as is.

    I got an idea.
What if punishing, rather than directly affecting scores since not everybody even cares about that, added time to redeploy for the teamkiller the next time he died?

That way if you have a asshole who's constantly TK'ing everybody, you can keep him out of the game so he doesn't mess up the rest of the team.

Punishing would again be voluntary of course.

Punishing teamates who TK should stay in but as @Caentyr says, no one really cares that much about the highest score in the middle of a game. Their respawn length should be doubled and it should be in 72 size font why their respawn is taking so long.

Votekicking is a toxic mentality. Autokick from a match should instead happen at X team damage and/or teamkills, which ever comes first. I hate having to stop what I'm doing and no doubt navigate some convoluted path in order to access the vote kick button ... I can't think of a single game where votekicking is an easy and quick process.

Another thing to mention is that votekick is prone to abuse. I can predict that players, though annoying, might be kicked even though they haven't harmed their team in any way.

Also think about this, there aren't that many games happening at any 1 time, and the MM is divided by races. So if for example an Eldar or Ork player is kicked for team damage, what is stopping him from joining the same match again? I don't think think there should be a mechanic which forcibly stops anyone from joining any matches at all, and there aren't enough players to have a low-priority MM queue akin to Dota 2.

Agree, the text is too small, and it's a light colour which often blends in with the sky/lighting.
