They had adapted to the forests and jungles, their bodies able to support a perfect fusion between plant and animal The Kindred was strong for a time, until a match was lit. For you see, for their strength, endurance, and ability to regrow they had traded in some of their intelligence and capacity for speech. Now there is but one survivor, a gentle giant who's beak has grown mossy and who's breast has long been overrun by vines and bark. With his quills shaking with thick leaves, this towering behemoth of wood and muscle marches towards the front lines speaking the only phrase he can utter anymore, "I am Kroot."

Shoulder-Mounted Flamer, Arm-mounted Fusion Blaster, Onager Gauntlet, Shield Generator. x2 Heavy Gun Drones Background/Personality: Commander Halefire has been in command of Hunter Cadre Shi'ur since its inception during the third sphere expansion. Hunter Cadre Shi'ur is unique in that it is an experiment with which the Ethereal High Council is testing the abilities of the Gue'vesa to fight with the Tau in mixed units. Thus far the experiment has been a rousing success. The Commander's first fight with his newly formed Cadre was against the Dark Angels Space Marine Chapter, where the Cadre fought an extended campaign that ended with the Chapter's much vaunted Ravenwing units being slaughtered by a well-placed Kroot ambush. With that campaign wrapped up, the Commander and his Cadre moved on to Planet Atrilia, where they were the first Cadre on the ground, sustaining heavy casualties but eventually succeeding in securing a beachhead for the rest of the Tau forces in orbit. The depleted Cadre was pulled off of the front lines and stationed around important positions, from which they launched their assaults on the Genestealer Cults in the underhive parts of the Forge World. It took a month for them to clear the underhive, and by the time that was finished the planet had been taken. The rest of the fleet moved on, with Hunter Cadre Shi'ur remaining behind to oversee mop-up and garrison duty until their numbers were replenished. Two months later, the rejuvenated Cadre found themselves assigned to investigate the strange reports on Xe'vis. Commander Halefire is wise before his age, having undergone tutelage under the remains of Commander Puretide himself. He understands the teachings of both Kauyon and Mont'ka, and when they are appropriate to be used. Unlike many of his fellow Commanders, he remembers what it was like to be a young Shas'la, and does his best to not be an aloof Commander, instead joining the lower ranks for daily PT, meals, and other events, and encouraging the officers under him to do the same. Despite this, he will not hesitate to sacrifice his soldiers if doing so will accomplish a goal worth the expenditure of those lives, and he makes this clear to his soldiers, they know that if he is ordering them to their likely deaths, that their deaths will mean something.
Name: Tered Age: he cant remember Role: Kroot Carnivore Homeworld: Pech Rank: Carnivore Background: Tered knows little about the war being waged, he simply joined up when the Tau came to his tribe trying to hire some Kroot mercenaries, he joined up for some adventure the shaper told him to be careful on what enemies he feasts upon, as they will help or hinder him accordingly he has killed many wild beasts on his own homeworld, but is ready to find something new out there, and kill it and eat it spends most of his time either in the mess hall, or in the training areas, dueling with other kroot (and sometimes Tau or Gue'la who are brave/stupid enough to one-on-one a kroot, but its always non-lethal if in the training area of course), and happily joins the Tau in their 'PT' exercises out of his own volition, always outperforming the shorter, blue skinned people, he finds it amusing Gear: duel bladed Kroot Rifle staff two extra, one handed blades some basic leather armor, nothing much loincloth
Also, the rifles are called Kroot rifles, their homeworld is Pech, but they are probably born on just about any world with a sizeable Kroot population. And rank you would just be a Carnivore, which is their average warrior
