Stats from FFG: Astartes Thunder Hammer Type: Melee Damage: 2d10+5 E Pen: 8 Special: Power Field, Concussive,Unwieldy 30 Requisition - Required Fame 'Distinguished' Spoiler: Power Field Effect When the wielder successfully uses this weapon to Parry an attack made with a weapon that lacks this Quality, he has a 75% chance of destroying his attacker’s weapon. Weapons with the Warp Weapon Trait and Natural Weapons are immune to this effect. Spoiler: Concussive Effect When you strike an opponent with a Concussive weapon, he must make a Toughness Test at a Difficulty of –10 per degree of success by which the attack succeeded or be Stunned for 1 Round. Auditory protection confers a +10 bonus to this Test, but does not negate the kinetic energy of the blast. Additionally, any target taking Damage greater than his Strength Bonus from a Concussive weapon is automatically knocked down. Spoiler: Unwieldy Effect Huge and often top-heavy, Unwieldy weapons are too awkward to be used defensively. Unwieldy weapons cannot be used to Parry. Astartes Chainfist Type: Mounted Damage: 2d10† E Pen: 10 Special: Power Field, Tearing 40 Requisition - Required Fame 'Famed' († Chainfists and Power Fists double the wielder’s Strength Bonus when adding to Melee Damage.) Spoiler: Power Field Effect When the wielder successfully uses this weapon to Parry an attack made with a weapon that lacks this Quality, he has a 75% chance of destroying his attacker’s weapon. Weapons with the Warp Weapon Trait and Natural Weapons are immune to this effect. Spoiler: Tearing Effect These weapons roll one extra die for Damage, and the lowest result is discarded.
Hmmm the chainfist's stats look very similar to the power fist in Rogue Trader RPG. Well, I'd say the power level would have to be translated, since Deathwatch is made for marines and Rogue Trader for "regular" humans. EDIT: what I mean is that a chainfist in Rogue Trader would have higher stats.
So, better than a Thunder Hammer against armour and can be used for parrying, but not quite as efficient against more lightly-armourd targets. I'll keep this in mind. But, at any rate, back to the topic at hand, I'd say to just go with slightly buffed Lightning Claw and Combi-Bolter/Twin-Linked Bolter stats (not much, though, because as steeped in Chaos as it is, it was still just a prototype). It's not a daemon weapon, after all, if memory serves.
Well I am more deathwatch player.... Here the Power Fist stats as reference: Astartes Power Fist Melee 2d10† E Penetration 9 Special: Power Field, Unwieldy Requisition 30 Required Fame 'Distinguished' So basically almost like the Chainfist, just that the power Fist has no 'Tearing' and also has 1 less Penetration. And also for some reason it doesn't count as 'Mounted' whereas the Chainfist does, which I believe is due to the fact that it's more about the Chain attached on the fist than the fist itself ^^ Or just to explain that Power Fist actually can be used without Terminator Armor, whereas the Chainfist really is just waaay to enormous to do so. Well both are good against light-armored targets as they don't stand a chance. The Chainfist has rather the problem that it is truly TERMINATOR-ONLY. Whereas Thunder Hammer and Power Fist can be wielded also without it.
*shrug* I guess I just don't give a crap about Abaddon because he never succeeds with anything, lol. #CurseOfTheAntagonist #FeelYouBro #EldarFate
