?

Which Suppression effect would you like?

  1. Keep what we have

    55.4%
  2. Give me DOW2 style pinning Suppression

    18.5%
  3. Make Suppression drain Stamina to lock down range evasions for melee support

    5.4%
  4. Keep Current, add one: more range, more damage or less spread

    20.7%
  1. increase damage, the suppresion effect is indeed the simulation of fear, it's a killzone...if the damage does not own up to the suppression then it's pretty much useless.
the spread is good, does not make the weapon op in the sense that you can't keep firing and killing everything that moves.
add more range with reduced damage aswell...with low to no suppresion
  2. That makes more sense, as that's what suppression even is in the first place, pinning fire to force the enemy to keep their head down, therefore 'snail's pace'

I'm glad people are finally starting to see the light. I have been touting the anti-suppression mechanic for the past few weeks. It is beyond me how anyone can even make a logical, rational, VALID argument for the suppression mechanic to stay.

...Especially when everyone is just running around with the plasma cannon anyway because it does the Heavy Bolter's job 10x better AND its good versus vehicles and groups of players.

Make the Heavy Bolter dangerous and you will see how fast people duck for cover. What some players are worried about is that apparently at some point before, they screwed up the heavy bolter and made it lazer pin point accurate which obviously should not be the case. So yes, of course back then it would have been absurd. But we're talking with current recoil/CoF/accuracy to give it the damage it deserves.

Otherwise change the name of the gun to "Light Bolter".

    Absolutly agree

The major difference between the HB artificial suppression and the PC natural suppression is that the target of a Heavy Bolter will take cover as a response to being shot, while the target of the Plasma Cannon will either take cover before getting shot, or die (most likely). The second is more effective at preventing people shooting at you from the the outset, and forces them to stay in cover or die. If the enemy is aware of the Plasma Cannon, you can tie them down quite effectively. If they're not aware, they'll probably die.

What the artificial suppression effect does that fear of the PC doesn't, is prevent return fire after the target has taken cover. Someone suppressed by a Plasma Cannon can still take accurate pot shots back, so long as they duck into cover before the PC fires. Additionally, the Heavy Bolter can protect other people without having to actually land kills. I've found myself doing this a lot recently, acting at long range to protect other people, who are making an assault on a position. A Plasma Cannon can achieve potentially better results by killing the enemies, but the artificial suppression can't be countered by dodging or cover in the same way the PC can be.

Right, and as soon as you invent perfect instantaneous quantum internet that everyone in the world has that allows for no delay, and thus solve the problem of A-D-A-D spam and cover popping, I'll agree to remove the suppression effects.

You haven't played very many video games at all, have you?

Here's pro suggestion for your puny brain:

-Increase CoF Bloom/accuracy any time you are in "motion" (includes strafing)
-Increase accuracy and reduce CoF bloom anytime you are stationary/crouched/shooting while stationary behind cover
-Put money earned by company towards better servers and netcode

Basically just took out A-D strafing with a few simple changes. Wow, boy, gee willickers, that was tough to do. No game has ever done this at all so I guess A-D strafing is here to stay 5ever.

Also suppression doesn't change the A-D strafe problem so get rid of it. A-D strafers can strafe your heavy bolter all day because it hits like a pillow. They might not be able to fire effectively back, but you're not going to kill them while they strafe around and run around your (for some reason) slow-turning heavy bolter. Then they get to A-D strafe you from the side/back all because lolwut 'suppression'.

Literally I see it all the time. Player A shoots player B with heavy bolter. Player B just roflol's around and runs around aimlessly until Player A overheats or gets a bad angle. Player B just keeps running toward the heavy bolter fire, dodges to the side one last time and shoots Player A in the face.

    #balance #suppression #logic

Yeah I've only been playing online first person shooters since Starsiege: Tribes. I'm sure Ih ave no idea what I'm talking about. The 200 hours I have in planetside two haven't caused me to have strong opinions on no artificial supression either.

either keep what we have or reduce the HB's suppression effect a bit.

Did they fix the suppression (HB) on far away targets?
    Feels different.
