Supply crates are obnoxious. The novelty of "what am I going to get?!" wears off very quickly after you've spent hundreds of thousands of requisition to get mod after mod after mod. Nothing is more annoying that pulling mods from supply crates for weapons you don't ever use or, in some case, don't even have. Take the mods out of the supply crates and allow them to be purchased from the store. Hell, you could even make them a little more expensive. Make all of the basic weapons available from the store OR the supply crates and leave the alternate skins, unique weapons, and master crafted weapons in the crates. Thoughts?
Yeah, it's not fun getting mods for weapons you don't yet have. I'm opposed to loot crates in general. It's a grind wrapped up in RNG. Realistically my dislike of them will not make them go away. And I will say this in support of the developers, they have made a fairer system than most because you can eventually collect everything, there are no duplicates and the crate tiers you target only ever contain loot from that tier. Nevertheless, getting mods this way sucks. Your idea seems reasonable. Another way might be to split crates into mod crates and weapon crates.
I played about 80 hours of Eldar in a week's time and unlocked everything from every box. Not getting duplicates makes the system tolerable to me because requisition doesn't seem very hard to come by if you're playing well and getting squad xp etc. Eldar have a lot less items and starting CSM up a few days ago I noticed they have nearly double the amount of loot box items in total. Although, I'm already about half way done with the 12k boxes. 500 and 3k already cleared out. RNG factor kinda sucks but I think this is one of their carrots on a stick. Some people really want some specific items so they'll keep opening boxes. This obviously results in more time being spent playing the game to grind out all the Requisition. I mean maybe there's a better way but I understand why it is the way it is.
I definitely get the reasoning behind the system, but it's not really FUN. People are going to eventually buy everything anyway (assuming they play long enough), so why make it frustrating to get the items you really want? Just let people buy the weapons they want and call it a day. People who don't really care and just want to get the best deal can still buy the crates and take the chance. The only reason I even thought about this is that I remade my CSM character and was like, "Boy, this sure does suck."
It is possible to forego the boxes and get the basic weapons from the loadout screen if the most annoying part for you is getting mods before the weapons. They are more expensive that way, but it guarantees that you get what you want.
It would be better if it was more like other MMO......where you go to a vendor in a public lobby and see what his wares for the day are.
Sure, but that doesn't solve the mod problem. If someone loves their power klaw, they shouldn't have to open (potentially) dozens of 30k crates to get a mod they want. The supply crate system is fun if you're chasing skins and unique weapons, but when you're trying to use basic attachments, it's a pain in the neck.
If you are suggesting to allow the same kind of access to the mods, I'm completely fine with that. I don't see why the devs would be opposed to it either. I'd make a feature request for it: https://eternalcrusade.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/topics/200175666-Feature-Requests
Imo put all the mods in the very first box for 500. That would get them outa the way fast enough and it isn't unfair to anyone.
All of them in a single box for 500 (lootsplosion!) or the 500 cost boxes only containing mods? If it's the latter I hope they would add some 500 cost weapon boxes as well as I suggest in the second reply.
