Then why not by chance? Simply give those with the better stats/experience a higher chance of receiving the elite bonus in-game? This is all making me think of the system in Star Wars Battlefront II when it came to heroes but with some obvious differences.
I agree, termie status should go off the upper crust of those who are playing. It should be done on something like a roving percentile, so rather then saying you have to have X experience to qualify, make it that you have to be in the top 10th percentile to get considered for the upgrade.
BHVR seem to really want to emphasise that you don't simply jump into the armour of the most elite unit of your faction right away, so this could be a semi-suitable system of which to do so. It'd have those who've spent a lot of time on the game feeling as if they have earned something worthwhile whilst giving the less experience players something to aspire to. I mean, who wouldn't want to don terminator armour and storm headfirst into Loyalist scum?
I think if they break things up based on percentiles it will alleviate a lot of pressure to create a balanced system that doesn't privilege no lifers and punish casual players. By the way: For the Emperor !
Neh, that just rewards people who have no social life more than anything (Not being an asshole it's true). It should be based on a player merit system rather than who can grind the most.
Its a nice idea but then there would be no open world PVP... it would need to be instanced, with a queue system so that each side has the same amount of unit type and is balanced.
Yeah, I suppose that it would be instanced... but maybe there will be some arenas to play that game mode? some kind of attacks on fortifications etc? it could be possible I think.
Instanced PvP I feel detracts from the feel of games like this. I wouldn't mind arena based training on Strike Cruisers or something like that but not battlegrounds like in WoW or something. PvP is fun (at least for me) when it's dynamic with constantly changing circumstances rather than the same bland setup over and over.
Instanced PvP is fine if you wanna do simple duals of 4v4, etc... I don't mind battleground/warzone PvPwhere its objective, but PvP needs to primarily be Open World, then add in your arenas, battlegrounds, and objective based content after. PvP needs to be dynamic, & In The Grimm Darkness of The Far Future.... it needs to feel EPIC!
The problem with battlegrounds is because it will drag people away from the Open PvP, in a player driven conflict you NEED as many people as you can on the front lines. Instanced PvP will just take numbers from your forces and WILL cost you.
