Good points, and the more I think about it, the more I think you may be right. My over arching concern is more about not making everything in EC like an E-sport. That to me would just be utter boredom. However does this mean you would support getting rid of random things such as critical hits? I mean if people are so against random then this to me sounds like a perfectly plausible idea to trash as well. Basically take the dice out of the game and have rock, paper, scissors system?
You can get critical hits if you hit people in the head with ranged guns or in the back if you have a melee weapon, no need to rng and i really don't know why do you associate something fair to everyone, just you vs me no rng involved, with e-sports.
At this point the poll suggest not to add. Not having it won't hurt those that want it but adding will make the game less fun for those that don't want it. This needs a very large amount of the community wanting it.
Oh, you ARE butthurt =) At least he wasn't saying anything offensive, unlike you Reacting to some sarcasm and humour this way is strange and looks insecure Sarcasm aside, he's got the point. It's sounds good on paper, but in reality it's just getting in the way of fun
Well, landing critical hits and damaging is different - it's not about reliability but more about chance. You are either dealing little damage, normal damage or extra damage (because you are a good shot) or not dealing damage at all (because you missed or hit the thick spot). The player is basically in control of his criticals, skill defining his performance Whereas jamming is just rendering player helpless for no reason Now, if they were to add something like ricocheting off the armor and glancing blows.. That's something to consider - not just shooting the enemy but also considering armor thickness, angles, joints, etc
Critical hits are an established thing in many a games for quite some time in the gamings history. Random gun failures are not im afraid (can you give an example, i seriously cant recall a game that did this). I personally dont think this is the kind of game to be testing such a thing in. Its a high risk low reward feature which would probably blow up in the devs faces.
Guild wars has glancing blows, its basically that your attack gets cut in half. I guess that would give some variety.
Lets all take a step back chaps, no need to get upset. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, try and respect it even if you don't agree
Oh ok, so, as long as it is established random thing then it is ok? I can't provide an example as I am not sure one exists. This type of thinking seems to suggests that nothing new should be done. Go with the tried and true, and any new ideas should be shelved? That seems very counter productive to me. Is this your stance?
I agree with you on that. I would say that as close as it is to go with not adding it or even discussing it further. I am however intrigued with some of the logic being displayed recently.
