Somewhat, devs said average tankyness is gonna be just larger than that of space marine. I am pretty sure you can drop pretty fast but most of the time you can take a few hits. But yeah that all seems agreeable.
I was bummed when I came back to the game in 4th edition and my buddy was like.. "you don't need those dice anymore..."
Could be nice. But, the fancier the solution, the greater the risk that someone comes along saying: "Im guessing this would require a lot of extra computing power to calculate this for each bullet fired when thousands of players go at it simultaneously. And im guessing devs want to keep most calculations serverside (to avoid client hacking, "jam cheater!!! y u never get jam?!"). "
A jamming mechanic feature would be cool, but I'd prefer it not be random. They could handle it like Gears of War, where you have to do a quick-time event when reloading or some-such, and if you fail, your weapon jams for a small amount of time as a penalty. This keeps things skillful for the players, and less random die rolls in the background.
Yeah, I made a suggestion (see EDIT 2 POST 1) about it in a former post of this very thread, including a reloading minigame like GOW which would become harder and harder when the durability of your weapon gets lower and lower. The outcome of a fail would make your weapon jamming (double reloading time). I added also a misfire mechanic which would trigger when you click the fire button too rapidly (to avoid cheating and abuse like the plasma pistol in space marine) which would start instantly the reloading minigame : failing would make your weapon jamming/overheating for a longer time. I think it's a good example of a compromise we could find between wh40k fans and competitive players : no more random but still some malfuntions could exist. A devastor can be killed by using his plasma canon, and there are tons of other examples like that in the tabletop, not to mention psykers... which devs apparently stated will have a random outcome table already, alike the tabletop game.
If you've ever played any of the PnP games like Dark Heresy some of the critical failures are utterly hilarious.
Interesting how results seem to weight for some jamming/misfire features, considering the high amount of opposite opinions given througout the thread I'd thought the NO would have won by far ^^
Eldar weapons don't jam at all, since they are state-of-the-art and of energy/pulse nature Imperial weaponry is very reliable. Especially Space Marine firearms are always in a perfect condition, even though they can be centuries old (a hundreds year old weapon is a proof of reliability enough) - they are revered and kept in constant maintenance and care. They almost never ever jam Melta, plasma cannot jam (there is nothing to jam), but they can overheat. Laser weaponry is impossible to jam too Now, orks weapons jam a lot, I imagine, but orks seem to have no problem with that So, as you see, there is some imbalance here if we bring jamming into the game That's why I vote "no" The war is unpredictable enough, we should be able to rely on our weapons
