I strongly agree with this, blood in excess always reflects 40k well with dark aesthetics, It's a grim dark future. I'm sure that Game Workshop will stay true in this sense, however I feel like ork humor although useful at times can also be very gimmicky and out of place.
yeah might be and thats also the part that doesnt fit into this universe. theyre savage, bloodthirsty beasts. if you want 40k, then make orks act like it, not like a bunch of circus clowns.
It won't stop all of them No, But there will be atleast around 10% fewer thanks to the fact that some parents don't buy their kids M rated stuff. (it is a small reduction, but it atleast gets rid of a few of them)
They are bloodtrhirsty beasts, yes. but they are at the same time oppertunitists. They can work for someone for the right price, (which makes them mercenaries some times) They are not tyranids, and they are not as "stale" as the other races. So why wouldn't they joke about what they kill, how they kill it or their equipment which they use to kill things.
The Ork humour has to be a thing, as it is still an important aspect of 40k. If you take the humour out, they're no different from everything else in the galaxy. Oh, and it WOULD be limited to just the Orks, you know.
I dunno, I'd personally prefer the orks to look more like this: I hate this cartoonish, first edition style where they are presented like some Disney, dumbass...Shreks. Wh40k art style has evolved in a good, grim dark direction and let's keep it this way.
I strongly disagree that 40K needs to be humourless... This is a setting that is so bombastic and overblown that it borders on parody. Space Knights, Space Elves, Space Orks! I don't get along with people who take the setting too seriously. You know, the guys who write fan fiction about their self-inserts which all seem to be deadpan and depressively gory stories. I like 40K (and Warhammer Fantasy) as a violent and fun setting a lot but I also understand how utterly ridiculous the setting is and I personally like it best when it doesn't take itself entirely too seriously. I guess that is why I love the orks and Ciaphas Cain novels so much. And Blood Bowl. Blood Bowl is hilarious I never saw 40K as mature entertainment. It's juvenile entertainment. It's power armor and chain axes and toy miniatures and games and elves in space and orks with cockney accents! Acting like it's some sacred mature standard that must not be sullied with HUMOUR is ridiculous. The orks NEED to have that element to their faction, it's part of their identity in 40K and is what maks them special.
Please don't do this to orks, they deserve more, - to be treated like blood thirsty killers not like teddy bears.
They are bloodthirsty and ruthless. The only thing they do is to be bloodthirsty and ruthless. When are they ever not? They can be bloodthirsty and ruthless and still be fun, though. If you took the "fun" out of Orks, they'd just be really boring beasts. A big green army without identity or flavour
