This message has the intent to be visible not only to the community but i hope devs will show it as well, i do apologize for my bad language. Preventing zergs circumstances by adding multiple objective to be achieved in the same time is surely a good decision, it may help to Split players eventually but a big mistake is to understimate the size of Structures-Facilities-Fortress as well. In Planetside 2 or other mass fps , some structures are small and tight, actually in those games people, clumps in the corridors trying to reach the main objectives. Imagine 100 space marine collecting in a corridor large 3 meters or in a room large 30 square meters then suddenly a grenades pops in the ground and kills them all.... this to my opinion is very stupid , Anti Aethetic and it totally ruins the gameplay.. Lets analyze with 2 simple points why this happens : 1) the main objective is placed within a single room. 2) there is a single spawn room for the enemy , so the zergs are inclined to camp the spot by killing everyone exiting from there and so.. collecting in great numbers on small areas. Then people get annoyed by getting killed eachtime they exit from the safe areas and then ... they start to log out or wait for the enemy to win.... I hope eternal crusade will not fall in the same mistake and tries to sort out this problems. Also I wonder how this may impact on the client side , for example rendering 100 or 1000 space marine/orks , everyone with different visuals upon them ( golden spaulders, tabards, cloaks, etc... ) is very Hardware demanding... in my opinion, this will be the true obstacle for devs. I looked to pikkoserver , surely is a nice decision, but what will be the impact on us as players ? Hardware requirements? I7-I5 processor Minimum? 1000 players in the screen are many....
You will need a good PC for this game. If you can run PS2, then you should be able to run this one as well, hopefully. Continent will be big, so you will rarely see hundreds of people in the place. Still, zergs should be considered something normal here.
My PC will manage. I do hope the broadband will. I expect heavy optimization of the game engine-wise and broadband-wise The DEVs did say, that most of the game will be calculated on the server
Games for consoles tend to be nerfed into the underworld. Worse graphics, less FPS, less everything. I expect any PC-version of a game to be a better quality than the thing they had going for the console.
I'd prefer it if they just completely ignored consoles and put out a good PC version first that is well optimized, it really hurt Planetside 2.
Yeah, a i5 based cpu should be able to run the game cpu wise. As for "GPU" wise though, the gpu that xbox one uses is usually compared to a Amd Radeon HD 7700- Series GPU. Most people say the closest gpu to the upcoming xbox one gpu, is a amd radeon hd 7790. The cpu is Jaguar based hardware, which is primarily used in AMD based laptops and tablets most of the time. The xbox one cpu has 8cores and are clocked at 1.75GHz if I remember correctly. It does have eight cores though so it's -pretty- effective. If the game will utilize Mantle, then amd gpu's and cpus will get a even more of a boost game performance wise (atleast I hope so, we'll see at the beginning of December when they put the patch to Battlefield 4 with Mantle).
You have 2 years till launch, start saving...... As for the zerging, as long as there are instant battlefield spawns, then there will be zerging. No spawns should be possible in the battlefield.
