Guys, we totally forgot that we have a great feature in the game that will help out Striking Scorpions stealth. We wondered if we had a way to know how visible we are to others. And here is the Solution: The headmovement tracks your aim. So you can actually see wheter an enemy player is directly looking at you, or is focused somewhere else.
Still hard to notice if you are on low settings like me (not GPU atm) but it is something thanks for sharing.
I will say this. Striking scorpions still have the dirt trail behind them when they move, meaning that if an air assault has a keen eye, they'll be spotted pretty quick and pounced on if they're not careful. The only class that has given me trouble as a raptor so far is the Reaper and Swooping Hawk when played well. Last night was the best xeno slaughter I've had since the Ullanor Crusade. I certainly feel like a space marine again.
Which in turn perfectly invites a system like mine, where your degree of Stealth is based upon your actions and location(I.E. Still, Crouch, Dark, Cover, Active Stealth, Conceal), rather than the game doing a lot of work for you if you happen to walk or move your reticle near a Scorpion in Stealth. They have stated many things during the development, not all of which has come true. They can always change their mind if they come upon the means of adding post-launch things in before launch. Eldar weaponry tends to have bright and flashy/spacey effects. Additionally, the supposed size of battles should allow for plenty of distraction Eldar that allow Scorpions to sneak about the battlefield more effectively than an all Scorpion team could. If we instead have a proper Stealth system(I.E. provides degrees of Stealth based on being Still, Crouched, in a Dark area, possibly in Cover, using an Active Stealth mechanic or under a Warlock's Active Conceal) you will know exactly how visible you are to others because however visible you are on your screen is how visible you would be to others. If you know that Crouch gives 45% Stealth and Active Stealth gives 50% you'll know you have 95% Stealth if crouch walking with your Active Stealth, regardless of how close an enemy player's character model or reticle are to you.
But that's how it already works. Standing still and crouching makes you more invisible than sprinting. You're a Founder, right? If so, get to the Founder's server and see for yourself.
To be honest, I really hope they will make an exception for the Eldar, since in the case of the Striking Scorpion they have no Exarch options which aren't either Two-Handed or Dual-Wielded
what if they had partial stealth paired with an active ability that bumped it up to lightbending predator status. That way you can choose when to be super sneaky or risk being only kinda sneaky.
Crouching makes you completely invisible when no single action(unless an Active Ability like the Infiltrator from Planetside 2 or Spy from TF2) should provide you with complete invisibility. Your level of Stealth should depend on what you are doing and where you are, not on performing a single action and changing based on how close an enemy player's character model or reticle are to your character model. You should of course have higher Stealth when standing still because that should be one of the numerous ways to boost your Stealth towards 100%. Sprinting should additionally prevent you from using your Active Stealth. As do I, being that choices and fun will be limited for the Eldar otherwise. Players should have an Active Stealth ability that provides them a degree of Stealth(I.E. 50%), which could be paired with a Warlock's AoE Conceal Ability for 100% Stealth on the Scorpion. Stealth could also be passively boosted in various ways, such as: Still Crouch Darkness Cover Each of those 4 possible modifiers could provide 45% Stealth. Crouching without moving in the open would provide you with 90% Stealth, while your Active would boost it to 100%. If moving at a Crouch through the open with your Active Stealth you would have 95% Stealth, while if the area was Dark(I.E. night-time) it would be 100%. Previously mentioned combo of Scorp Stealth and Warlock Conceal would be 100% Stealth for the Scorps, even in the lit open when moving without crouching. The reason for the boni being less than 50% is so players can have means of disrupting Stealth. For example, Flashlight attachments for weapons would remove the Dark bonus when shined on Stealthed players, while things like Grenades could remove the Still bonus in an area for a short time.
I like the combo with conceal because the warlock himself would only be 50% invis so it'd have counter play, unless the warlock was 100% visible in which case same thing
