Stop with these stupid 1 faction campaigns

?

Should campaigns be for all factions always?

  1. Yes, obviously.

  2. No, we like long queue times and faction stacking.

You already have csm doing far worse than orks...

By 1pm saturday(a day after campaign started) you had orks who controlled all sectors, with csm at the same time, you had eldar who held 3 territories, lsm who held 1 territory and orks who held 1 territory.

5 hours after that at 6pm orks lost 1 territory to eldar, while with csm orks held 3, lsm 0 and eldar 4.

theyll all easily complete campaigns, but i can already tell you roughly how map will look like at lsm and eldar campaigns during same time.
  2. To make it clear: Me thinking LSM Campaign is a bad idea = Opinion
More then half of the population playing LSM = according to stats the developers have shared in their livestreams.
Dunno exactly in which one though, but as far as i remember, twice allready

While I like your idea, it has some potential flaws or maybe I'm reading it wrong. The last paragraph has me confused, Chaos gets double or the day's opposing faction does? And not all days are equal, weekends are still prime time. Not every player has the luxury of playing any day they like.

It doesn't solve the problem of players vacating the game while campaigns are on nor the massive shifts in faction play, some of which are not desirable because of queue times. Although you didn't cause the problem so +1 for thinking of possible improvements.

At this point I am peak pissed with the single faction campaign scheme (and also campaigns in general). It has advantages for some balancing purposes, but boy does it make the game suck. I feel like doing 10 wins and out or not playing at all, neither of which is healthy for the game or queue times.

  4. They're doing the campaign this way to get new players invested, by saying "Hey, come play this faction we're promoting for 10 wins, get some RTC (that they can't spend I think) and maybe consider going premium." The duration is that way based on the assumption of an average F2P's play time, so they have as much time as possible to complete their 10.

Once they're past this promotional campaign, hopefully they'll come up with campaigns that aren't so blatantly focused on marketing the game.

Implying the CSM aren't overpowered by comparison to the LSM and have more versatility and better war gear. And the Devs MAIN on CSM...

Players on other factions getting stomped so they quit the match, possibly quitting the game.

I do get the rationale - promote the game, try all the factions, track all the faction outliers in weapon & class performance. Noble goals. It's the method that's at issue.

Players should be invested in their character or characters. If you can't play because of long queue times or you get stomped because you weren't playing the campaign's faction of the week, where's that player investment. 10 wins or be cannon fodder?

I don't expect the remaining 2 faction campaigns to deviate from the current plan. I don't want to see a repeat of it either after it's ended.

I think that the hook that's needed is personal advancement. Campaigns don't really manage that. Single faction campaigns really don't. As I posted before...

I am not a fan of the campaign system (neither single faction, nor all faction ones) and I would like to see some personal goals that aren't time or heavily faction limited. I would prefer a focus on the player with up to 3 smaller goals which are refreshed over time as you complete them, like the Hearthstone daily system.

Example goals (all characters can count towards goals & be completed over multiple games)...

    • Win 1 match against 3 different factions
    • Destroy 3 vehicles
    • Win 3 matches
    • Earn 3 capture credits (be near the point when it's captured)
    • Kill 50 Tyranids in any PVE mode (garrison 'Nids don't count!)
    • Get 10 ranged kills
    • Get 10 melee kills
    • Score 3 kills with a vehicle
    • Revive 10 teammates (teamkill revives don't count!)
    • Score 3 kills with a healing class
    • Revive 3 team mates with a heath pack on a non-healing class
Goals you don't wish to do can be rejected once each day.

Get the players coming back, give them a sense of progress. Some smaller easier wins working towards a larger goal. Campaigns can play a part overall, but not to the point of fatigue.

  10. I think the only reason Chaos isn't winning faster is because people who were around for the last one are already burnt out. I got 44 wins during the Ork camapign, and probably 20? Losses. I've already got my 10 for Chaos. And I don't think I can crack out playing to ensure Chaos wins like I did with Orks. I imagine a lot of players are feeling the same.

Lik.e., if they'd picked Chaos first for the marketing campaign, we might be saying Orks are clearly worse because they're the second ones doing this style of campaign.
