I vote no. If it can remain available without steam it is A LOT better. Due to one thing, yes it should be on steam if the game is complete and that is that, the thing is if the game has DLC and or any minor cash shop content one can buy from the game, then steam takes a cut. If the behaviour team can negotiate a fair deal of how much steam takes on each item bought from the cash shop that both sides can agree upon, then so be it on steam it goes. If they can not and steam wants quite the cut, then i say no. For now it is a no, but if they can work something out then yes go for it.
Steam will add more players overall- the accessibility and ease for this takes away a lot of hassle- agreed at massive cost. Having a later Steam release would be the smart solution. Maybe after 4-6 months as will inject a lot of new blood into the game. Also http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/steam.961/ for Steam group
I vote no for the time being. I think Eternal Crusade needs to stand on it's own for a while before they consider moving distribution to another site that will take a cut out of money that could be used to make addons. Also, Steam would probably charge money for DLCs and expansion packs. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE steam, but it just doesn't mix well with MMOs.
i say yes to steam. not right off the bat--but later on...perhaps a year or so later? at the same time, it has a free option. thus, it would gain a shitton of popularity with people just trying it out, and loving it, and not being limited in the normal sense. i think including steam right after launch is what i'd go for, but i think that you guys should sell on steam sooner or later.
like what? and only include examples that you KNOW were steams fault--not that you expected to be awesome, they joined steam, and then you didnt like them/they did bad.
its not truly F2P--the ork option is a free option--like a demo, but you can play the whole campaign. microtransactions will be largeley irrelevant.
I'm holding my vote on this for now, I cant really decide On-steam=good for players/bad for devs No-Steam=good for devs/bad for players but those are just my opinons on it, which is why I'm holding my vote until the game is in near completion (and by players I mean FUTURE players)
@clefspear007 (quote function still out of order) think they're considering this already, it's been mentioned a few times around by the big important people
