Everyone got together to upvote it at the last second so it would get better reviews. But they were all empty and hollow reviews. Until they have a patch or two this month and rebalance the game and tighten up a lot of things, its not going to go anywhere. This game needs a lot more work before its going to take off.
See the thing about hype is they took it, dragged it through the mud, put a shot gun in its mouth and used the left over bits to give us an uninspired arena shooter.
Hyperbole. It lacks about 3 balance passes and probably a half a dozen bug fix passes before it's good at what it is. But uninspired? What does that even mean.
Well it went from a MMOTPS akin to planetside were battles actually mattered and the threat of the tyranid horde was ever present to a small scale lobby shooter that has nothing unique besides the 40K IP. Its bland and samey
The game is at least six months from a release-ready build. Even just picking out the most glaring problems: - matches with 30+ players have huge problems with server latency - PvE is just not in a condition that anybody should play it for non-testing purposes - the Rogue Trader store is horribly overpriced - appearance customization is a shell of what it should be - the game needed to release with Campaigns as a feature in order to not just be a generic arena shooter - the siege maps are fucking horribly designed. Christ on a crutch, the objectives either have ten million access points or so few that half a dozen heavy bolters can hold off an army.
weeks? Try almost a year. The game most backers were sold on doesn't, and with how bE is handling launch, will never exist. So yes while it will be an okay arena shoot thats not what most people bought.
BINGO. hence my open letter to Nathan. I knew it was coming, and to be honest, I'm surprised how relatively mild it has been so far. The devs seem to be in this tunnelvision and now EC is being exposed to a wider non 40k audience you see whats happening. The devs need to fully understand how this game in its current form is being perceived. They dont need to despair, but they do need to wake up.
