Devs just said on stream that no serious optimization will be done. So I guess the game will be released in its current state for the Steam crowd to feast upon. They did said that there are some bugs which are decreasing frame rate(which is something that I was suspecting all along) but no mention as to whether they will fix some of them before Steam EA launch. Also some usual bullshit like "You need a better PC" and "If you can't play our Alpha then you'll have problem playing UE4 games in general", even though UT4 runs a lot better(50-60 FPS) for me, and it's also in Alpha.
Alright, it's not looking great. I just asked on Twitch if they feel like releasing the game on Steam EA in its current stage is a good idea. They answered that they think it's a good idea and they see that people are currently enjoying the game right now. Don't they understand that people that are enjoying the game are passionate 40k fans that are able to ignore the state of the game because of how much they love the universe? People on Steam won't have this passion. They will just see the game for what it is. A raw and poorly optimized shooter. That will also cost 40-60$
I don't really get the fuss, isn't this game already funded enough to be finished? How then would EA impede the development of our beloved and highly-praised game? To be honest, the more people the merrier but I myself, REALLY don't care about the opinions of other parties when it comes down to "I like this game" and "I don't like this game".
Mainly because stuff like Steam reviews affect the first impressions of people. So even after the game is a lot better, those negative Steam reviews might deter a lot of people from buying into the game. And while stuff like angry forum messages that will no doubt be abundant on EA launch will fade away once the game improves, the reviews will remain. There is also word of mouth, of course, which can help quite a lot as well as harm quite a lot.
how many founder will give a positive steam review? 1000? 2000? 4000? how many will give a negative review? consider that who don't like the game have already asked a refound. so probally will not give a positive review but will avoid give a negative.
We're not talking about Founders here, we're talking about casual Steam players who will browse the store and come across this new Early Access game called "Warhammer 40k Eternal Crusade" that looks interesing...
I feel that this was rushed and could had been a good idea had they waited at least 2 months later to further flesh things out
