Would a few of you tell me what state you think Eternal Crusade is in right now? I haven't touched the game since release (been waiting for it to git gud) and I'm curious as to how the game fares these days. I spent more than a few hours campaigning for the game back when I was a true believer and so it's naturally a little bit difficult for me to let it go completely, but before I allocate time and internet to download it again I was hoping to get a few mini reviews of what the community thinks of the game How much would you say the game as improved since release, and why do you think it's better now than then? Try to be as objective and unbiased as you possibly can, please
The state of the crusade is I fucking want my money back. The game for me is crashing all the time: in loadout screen, when deploying in a map, when finishing a match. The last hotfix changed nothing for me.
More cosmetics. Some balance changes for the better, some for the worse, some things yet untouched. The faction power ladder is pretty much the same, CSM to LSM to Eldar to Orkz, but the amount of active players is somewhat similar since the steam sale. Overall, it still needs several touches to be great, and we can only hope that its coming.
Its unfortnatly not in a good state, it will be bumpy ride for a while yet. Wait till febuary where I hope we see things heating up again.
Much update to Nid mode. Plasma got a funky facelift. Vets got pimped. Crashes said hello again. Couple new maps and many others got a redesign (fortress maps are quite a bit different). New Uniques weapons. Grav guns. Tanks are just plain wierd now (weeeeeeeeee!). Lots of new cosmetics to play with and quite a bit more I forget. Over all, much has changed but the level of enjoyment has somewhat stayed the same IMO. Good days and bad.
Current state of EC is Beta quality. Community tends toward toxicity in game and the game itself lacks substance. Gameplay still suffers from many of the same problems its always had; Bugs Lack of effective balancing Faction population disparity Clunky mechanics (particularly melee) There is also no realistic development timeline, everything is up in the air. I would say come back in another few months and see if there is significant improvement.
The Crusade is wallowing. I'm getting thanked daily by people on Steam for steering them away from it.
