State of Melee - Apr 14

    Thanks for your reply. I think I might have played that round after I downloaded the hotfix. But then again, this was the first time ever that I encountert this specific issue. Maybe the hotfix was even the reason for this? :eek:
    But then again, this might be intended, as the comment from Thraxus shows.

    I don´t complain about not whining against a specific melee class. I die to them all the time. ;) I just wanted to make sure that I understand the system correctly. So thanks for your reply. I have absolutly no idea why, but I thought that somehow the weapon speed and the clanging would work so that you always clang, as long as both fast attack with enough weapon durability. I was wrong there, but now I know. :)

    Definitely still getting people stuck together during melee. Outcome from there seems kinda random, as hit detection become 100% guesswork.

    I'm seeing it slightly more with jump troops, but I think it might be a weird hitbox interaction between dodging and heavy attacks.

    Honestly I don't know how Ranged manage vrs Melee.

    I don't know if its lag, or most likely that coupled with the fact that I've never played a ranged shooter before but I feel naked every time I'm forced to play any Ranged class.

    Then again some matches when I do sacrifice the jet pack for the ability to cap I actually do well at range to which I have no answers for.

    So strong is my pull to Melee, that when I do loadout with Tactical I often forget to shoot and just go straight in with my Combat Knife (usually ending up dead as Melee Lock doesn't work with Ranged, and my blows end up swinging off in janky unpredictable trajectories while my target is already several feet away by the time my swings fixed animation frame path ends)

    Once whatever this lag / Melee Netcode problem is solved, anyone who uses Melee, be it Ranged or actual Melee *should* start to see more consistent results.

    Well that's what I hope will happen. . .Here's hoping the Unreal Patch this week fixes this.

    That moment as you laugh your ass of while you smack an Apothecary to death with the but of your Heavy Bolter I love it. That moment makes me feel like an Ork laughing as I just keep Smack Smack Smack Smack Dead..... umm I think I lost my train of thought....

    Oh right personally no issues with melee only issue I have encountered mild lag but past that nothing really stands out badly about melee... to me anyway.

    Melee seems broken to me. Maybe it's my FPS going between 20 and 40, maybe it's lag or maybe I just don't know what the feth I'm doing but once I enter melee it's difficult to tell what exactly is going on. Even more so when my camera starts to shake and obscures my foes next move. Is he trying to kick me? Will he do a heavy strike?

    NO FETHING CLUE!

    But hey, here's a nice view of my arse while the camera is shaking and I'm being pummeled to death by a Havoc's heavy bolter!

    It seems pretty easy when you manage to sneak from behind since enemies fall in two hits but oh boy if it doesn't turn into a guessing game once you go head to head.

    I guess, what I'm trying to say is... I would really love to see less guessing and more skill required to win in melee combat and maybe less camera shaking that ends up focused on my fuzzy arse and not on my enemy.

    JUST STOP THE CAMERA SHAKING FOR THE LOVE OF THE EMPEROR I WANT TO KEEP MY MJOD IN MY STOMACH AND NOT ON THE FLOOR! ;_; *eyes the puddle of spilled mjod*

    I prefer playing ranged but when I run in Melee I would like to actually hit what I intend to. The targeting is god-awful for both ranged and melee. How is it that when I click an enemy on for target the second he/ me/ or the camera moves; my target circle/reticule gets stuck on a wall or other inanimate object and I cant click off of it? Bad..just bad.

    This can also happen in a cover crouch as a devastator ... your targeting reticule just skews away from what you intended to target to affix to something else... maybe next hotfix please? I'm not in this game to kill buildings; just my enemies.

    This is a bug, or sometimes it's possible to kill two people simultaneously with the Power Fist ?
    Since it's in the game, I had to do it 2 or 3 times. It's very very very rare. Players must be very close to each other.

    Don't think so, you can achieve this with other weapons, its just the natural cleave happening when ppl stack up too close. Their own fault for not spreading out or going single file tbh.

    yes all melee weapon have a sorta of AoE the don't hit a target but an area/cone.

    That's the camera's fault. The gun doesn't automatically lock on the wall, the reticle behaves that way because the point of your gun is aiming at the wall, so it means to tell you that.
