The set itself isn't bad, but it's dangerous to get in the habit of buying your paints from GW. Like the man said, it's not that they're low quality - in fact, they're comparable - they just happen to charge more. If you do get the starter set, be mentally prepared to make the shift to a different brand of paints or you will find yourself getting ripped off once you start buying the GW paints on their own.
I buy GW paint all the time because it's made to suit their color schemes and a lot of tutorials use them. Vallejo and Reaper are both good brands but are still expensive. GW technical paint is awesome. Army Painter also sells paint. Some places will be a little more expensive, but they use eye dropppers. GW paint pots waste a ton of paint in my experience.
