Cyrus fake pouted a bit. "Well excuse for thinking you might get a kick out of it. We were stationary while trying to switch. Space is mostly empty after all, especially the Yavin system so even if we weren't it wouldn't have mattered. Yes, the astromech was fine. It ended up in orbit so we just picked him up about 15 minutes after ejection."

He just shrugged and patted his apprentice on the head. "Seriously though, not every mission ends up even being particularly eventful. The holocron duel has been kind of the highlight so far. There have been a few other interesting happenings but you'll have to learn a bit more galactic history before they'll really mean anything to you."
  2. @UnluckyFellow

"Well things have been nothing but eventful for us this past week. I figured that was just normal for Jedi's. Going about, righting wrongs. Being legitimate peacekeepers of the Galaxy. Not like the hunters guild, where the only thing that matters is profit...I got a lot of my information on Jedi from my adoptive family on Coruscant, mainly what their kid told me. And all the cynicism toward Jedi came from Zuri...If you're any indicator on how Jedi are, then I can admit that she's wrong about how she thinks about them. The only other Jedi we came across of note is Kyle Katarn. Who was just about the only Jedi I haven't seen her scoff at when talking about them..."

He looked too Cyrus with a look of shock at what he just said, nervously continuing the conversation.

"I'm sure she doesn't hate you though...now...she might actually get too liking you like she does Kyle."

At the mention of galactic history his face went blank. Trying to recall anything he might have learned during his travels and experiences

"Well Zuri told me the basis of what happened recently in the Galaxy. At least as much as she knew herself. There was some Republic thing, that became the Galactic Empire. And the Empire went around doing really bad things. But then this New Republic took over after some huge war. Something about a planet blowing up, which scares me to even think about. And then yeah...I got a very brief explaination. How much of a history lesson am I going too need?"

"Well I suppose you're right in that sense but being a peacekeeper doesn't always mean being an excellent warrior or expert tactician. The true goal would be to not fight at all wherever possible. You'll have to learn to play the game of politics as well if you wish to be an effective diplomat some day...or you could probably forgo most of that together and leave it to others."

Cyrus couldn't help at smile a bit when Nex started to try and explain for Zuri. "Hey, it's okay if she doesn't like me. Even in the Republic there are quite a few places where Jedi are viewed with suspicion. We're good so long as she doesn't try to freeze me in carbonite." He laughed, just to make sure his apprentice knew that he didn't think Zuri would do that.

"Well it depends on how far back you want to go, to quote Master Skywalker's teacher "For over a thousand generations, the Jedi served as defenders of the Republic." Obviously we don't have 20 some odd thousand years of history written down and saved but the point is there is still a lot you have to learn."

"Since we're swapping stories, how about you tell me about the time you guys met Master Katarn?"
  4. "Master who?....oh Kyle." Nex said as he was trying to recollect his thoughts on the matter at hand. He started scratching the top of his head. Unfortunately, he couldn't really recollect all of what happened. But there was enough for at least an abridged version of the event.

"Sorry to disappoint Cyrus, but the details are rather...fuzzy for me at the moment. Can't really recall everything that happened for some reason. But the gist of what happened was that Zuri and I were tasked with finding some lost shipments...or maybe we were guarding something...or maybe...whatever. That part doesn't really matter. Whatever mission we were on changed drastically when we stumbled upon a group of scary looking people. They all had those red Lightsabers, like Onii had, and I just got these horrible vibes from them. But anyways, of course they spot us annnnnd...huh...well the only thing I remember next was Kyle coming from out of nowhere and helped us fend them off. Must have blacked out at some point or something. I really don't recall much about it. The most I can remember was that Kyle was a really great guy, and I like him, and Zuri likes him too, and actually respects him more so then the other Jedi she talked about."

He scratched his head again and looked to Cyrus with a nervous smile.

"If anything, I suggest you ask Zuri on the details. She could tell you about it better then I can. The most I can recall was that Kyle saved us, and we parted ways at some point after exchanging contacts. It was actually a favor to Kyle was the reason why we were even on the Phoenix in the first place."

Kai looked with a smile under his helm as he heard he was going to get some pilot training. "Should be interesting to train with him, Isn't Wedge the leader of a legendary squadron of X wing squadron that took down the death star? Kai said as he saw Nat's glare, he wondered for a moment what he had done to earn it.

@Vulpas | "He's the only pilot to survive both Death Stars. And he led the attack on Coruscant. If you don't end up being able to fly rings around an average pilot after a year with General Antilles then something is very wrong with you."
Everything about Na'tala screamed out that she was jealous. She'd followed the careers, as best she could, of many of the Alliance's heroes and had a special interest in the survivors of Yavin.

Cyrus raised an eyebrow at the mention of the red saber wielding assailants. "Well considering what Master Katarn has been busy with for quite some time, I'd hazard a guess that those Darksiders you faced were probably some of the Disciples of Ragnos. I'm surprised though...he of all people should have been able to sense your Force potential. Hmm...now I can't help but wonder if he sent you my way on purpose." He grinned, not putting it past the battlemaster to do something like that at all.

"If that's the case...well I guess I owe him a nice bottle of Corellian whiskey. As for what you said earlier, don;t worry about silly notions like making me look bad. Just focus on learning, got it? Also I'm sure my old master will warm right up to you."

"You know, now that you mention it...it is kind of odd how Kyle didn't mention anything." Nex started scratching the side of his face trying to find some sort of answer, but came up with nothing but theories that had little bearing. "Maybe he mistakened Zuri as the one with the forcey stuff. We did stick relatively close when we met him...or maybe it was just too hard too notice...or, I don't know. Maybe we should ask him when we get to the academy, if he isn't away on some mission of his own or something."

"However we happened to meet up, be it Kyle pulling some strings, or destiny, or the force doing things. Whatever the reason, I'm glad too have met you. You're not perfect -and you seem to have a lapse in judgment now and then- but you're good man, and a great mentor. Now I...could have gone without meeting Darth Onii at the same time -or at all- but I'm happy you were there then, and I'm happy you're here now. It means a lot that you're willing to train me to help face this threat looming over everything and everyone I hold dear. So thank you, Cyrus. Thanks for being here throughout all this."

He let out a small chuckle as he just thought of something funny.

"So do you think your master would fall for the whole pet routine? Because we could have some fun if you want to pull a little trick on her."

"Well I really wouldn't be much of a Jedi if I just sat back and denied a student, would I?" He beamed. "I really don't think we've seen the last of Onii but hopefully we'll be much better prepared to face him the next time. As for my master...I don't know, it's certainly worth a shot. She's sharp and well traveled so I'd be kind of surprised if she hadn't at least heard of a Kushiban."

Kai noticing Nats jealousy chuckled a bit under his helmet."Well Nat when we get to Yavin you can likely visit him when I am training with him or after one of our flights during the year that we will be there. I am sure you could meet him during our time there." Kai said looking to Nat.
