  1. "A whole year?" he said, wide-eyed and exasperated, already hating the idea of being away from home for even longer then he had too. It felt like he was never going to return home. The knot in his stomach felt like it twisted even tighter. He exhaled slowly, trying too control his breathing, to make sure his mind and body were in control. He looked down toward his necklace and held the stone carving in his hand. He clenched it and pulled it close to chest as he closed his eyes. Maybe it was best if she had moved on with out him by now. The thought of having her hurting and alone because of his absence filled him with distraught. She deserves better then that, better then him in that regard. Regardless, he couldn't change anything about it. They had a year of training on their way. Hopefully it'd give them all the prowess they needed to stop this threat to the Galaxy.

    It was going to be okay. A year of training might do him some good. It'll definitely better prepare him to face Darth Onii when the time came. And it meant Nex would still have his friends and his father by his side throughout it all. Speaking of his father, he felt like he really should see to him. Make sure that he's taken care of. As much as he doesn't want to take his father on - admittingly -highly dangerous missions they'll more then likely be tasked with completing, he didn't want his old man to be alone either. He's the only family that his father had at this moment, leaving him to go do some dangerous New Republic work just felt cruel. Especially if he ended up hurt or worse on the field, leaving his father completely alone until they can guarantee a safe passage back to Kushibah.

    "Guess that'll give us the time we need to make me a proper Jedi ,huh? Maybe I could even swing a lightsaber around without cutting something of mine off." He slowly started coming around to the idea of actually having the time to train with his master. It'd give them the time to bond better as friends. It might even give them the time to shed some light on their sudden and unusually strong force bond they had between them.

    "You think maybe Master Skywalker could help us figure out what's up with this bond thingy. Yeah we have our theories, but I'd like to know from someone who would have a more conscious answer about the matter."

    @Uriel1339

    "Uhh...umm excuse me...anybody..." he said aloud to anybody that could have taken the time out to help him, "would anybody happen to know where I can go to see my father? He's pretty difficult too miss despite his size, he's the only other person on the ship that looks like me...I just want to see that he's gotten aboard alright. Maybe see if he needs like a pillow, or a blanket....come to think of it, I really should have gotten him a better reading book...would there happen to be any bantha milk on board, or something for the man to drink?"

    Cyrus would have been lying to himself if he'd said that he hadn't at least been a tiny bit disappointed when Master Skywalker gave him this assignment. Sure it was an honor, but the Disciples were a blatant threat and instead of possibly making sure a few more young jedi survived, he'd been going about collecting everyone and relaxing. Everyone must serve in their own way though...so if this truly was where he was needed most then it would all eventually be okay.

    As the good admiral briefed them on the battle of Korriban, he couldn't help but shudder at how empty he already knew the temple would be for quite some time. Being still so few in number, every Jedi was precious and each passing just made it that much harder to recover. With the Ragnos cultists gone now, he hoped for a bit of peace so that they might be able to raise enough knights to face whatever doom Master Skywalker felt was lurking out there.

    He could tell something was bothering his fluffy apprentice before Nex spoke, a few guesses could be made about exactly what but he wasn't about to pry. "Don't worry, the year will fly by and yet seem like it's been forever at the same time. Really, I think we'd both be old men by the time I could make a decent Jedi out of you considering the somewhat...sporadic training times we'd have between dodging blaster fire or whatever.

    Both Master Skywalker and Kyle and incredibly good, looking back on it I just know you won't believe what you'll be able to do a year from now. As for the bond, if anyone has better theories or answers it would be Master Skywalker. Come on, I saw them lead your dad towards the guest barracks. No need to bother the Admiral."

    "Huh?" he said looking toward Cyrus, trying to register exactly what the Jedi told him. When it finally clicked in his brain he nodded his head in confirmation and leapt to his mentor's shoulder. He took a look back too Zuri, and Kass, who were sitting next to each other. And they didn't seem to mind each other's presence. Perhaps what he said to Kass stuck with him, maybe he told Zuri how he felt. And perhaps Zuri actually reciprocated his feelings. He smiled toward the both of them.

    @Casavay

    "I'll meet up with you later Zuri. Just want to make sure my old man didn't get lost on the ship. I know he worked on freighters, but I'm not sure if he's gotten use to navigating ships of this size."

    And with that he turned his head to Cyrus.

    "Alright, you saw where he went, I would like for you too show me where. Lead the way."

    Cyrus shoved his hands in his pockets and looked to the rest of the group before they headed off. "Guess we'll catch up and get situated in a bit. If you guys are hungry go to the officers' mess, trust me on that one." Granted, the food may have gotten better the last time he was on a New Republic cruiser but he wasn't about to subject the others to that.

    They walked through three separate pairs of blast doors and down a turbolift to head back towards the center of the ship near the flight decks. "Just a bit of advice...you're probably going to have to get back in the mindset of being a pet. Some of the younger academy students are going to go absolutely insane when you meet them." He couldn't help but snicker just a bit at how even the younglings that tried to act "older" would sometimes have outbursts characteristic of children.

    Nex looked at Cyrus and cocked his head to the side, not quite getting what the Jedi was getting on about.
    What exactly was Cyrus implying. That the Jedi back at the temple would treat him like a pet instead of a fellow Jedi? Or was it more harmless then that and he should expect to be accosted by young Jedi trying to pet him constantly. He was going to take it that he was going to get a lot of pats and petting from the younger of the Jedi. He just hoped it wouldn't be a constant barrage at all times.

    "Should we set up a line and charge them for petting time? I'm sure we could make a killing like that." He said with a light chuckle. Cyrus bringing up the others at the academy made him think about something. Something he didn't think would come to mind or bother him, but he couldn't help but subconsciously think about it.

    "I hope your master approves of your choice in students." he stated, looking at Cyrus with a small grin, "I'd hate to dissapoint her, or make you look bad. And from what you've told me about her, I don't think she'd be the type to just melt at the sight of me....speaking of which, you still have yet to tell me about any of the other adventures you two have been on."

    Cyrus couldn't help but cackle at Nex's suggestion for them making a bit of pocket change. "Hey, if you're okay with it I think that'd be one heck of a funny way to make a little spending credits. Just don't start charging me or I'll be kriffing broke in about five minutes. Only kind of joking."

    He rattled his brain for a bit trying to think of something quick. "Alright, do you want to hear about all the trouble I had learning to fly or how I lost the first initiate battle royale I was in?"

    Meeting with Ackbar, one of the Alliance's (and later the New Republic's) greatest naval leaders, thrilled Na'tala and the Twi'lek was quiet as the admiral spoke. The news about the battle between the Jedi and the Ragnos Cult dismayed her and the statement that Commander Skywalker doubted the group's abilities, whilst probably fair, dismayed her further.

    Glaring in irritation at Kai when it was revealed that he'd be trained by THE Wedge Antilles, having nearly met the famous pilot nearly a decade ago, Na'tala tried to work out who would be handling her training. A year on Yavin IV would be beneficial, the variety of races that Jedi could come from no doubt another learning experience, and Na'tala resolved to make the most of her time on the jungle moon.
  8. "Nah, it wouldn't be fair to charge you" he said, with a sly smirk, "I sort of owe the whole learning the force things too you anyway."

    At the mentioning of Cyrus's suggestions as too which story for him to tell, Nex placed a hand under his chin and thought over the options. He wasn't sure which story could have been more interesting too him. So he just looked over to Cyrus, and gave him a grin.

    "Yes" he replied.

    Cyrus stepped off the turbolift and looked around to make sure no one would be close enough to overhear at least the entire thing. "Hey, don't be greedy now. I only have so many." he smirked. "Anyway, this would have been just after Master Ha'Shek picked me. I mean not even a week later. Prior to this the largest thing I'd ever operated was a small speeder bike and here I am essentially thrown to the Sarlacc. Back a couple years ago, the new order wasn't nearly as well provisioned as it is now that it has the full support of the Republic, so we were essentially using leftovers from the fleet."

    "The only Jedi starfighters we had was whatever was still flyable but wasn't fit for military service, really old stuff like A-Wings mostly. My master and I drew the short straw and ended up with a Y-Wing with the galaxy's sketchiest fire control system."

    "So we took the thing out near Yavin-1 so we couldn't hurt anything, of course my master had neglected to plan how exactly we were going to swap seats. While I was crawling from the rear gunner's seat into the pilot's seat my foot slipped and kicked a bunch of buttons. I hadn't even managed to take the controls and already I'd diverted all engine power completely to the left engine, ejected our astromech, and fired a salvo of proton torpedoes we were told had been removed and put in storage. So ya...Yavin-1 has two nice new craters now.."

    "I hope you don't take this the wrong way Cyrus" he said, trying to stifle a laugh, "but that sounds not nearly as impressive as your last story....and incredibly clumsy on your part. And pretty negligent of your master. Switching seats in the middle of piloting sounds incredibly dangerous for no real reason...mmh...was...was the astromech alright though?"

    He asked, legitimately concerned about the little droid, already reminding him of their astromech buddy Scrapper.

    "If you killed one of those adorable little guys-even on accident- I'm going to get legitimately upset with you right now, master."
