@GobMaw_HellSmasha Cyrus shrugged. At this point he'd been away from home a bit too long to know what they might actually need, leaving the choices completely up to him. "Well I think they're a bit too old to be playing with toys. Besides unless something has changed fairly recently then they both still have a preference for things that are either useful or just look...intriguing I guess you could say." He stopped at the information holoterminal just to get directions to a couple places. "Believe it or not, my family prefers old paper media to reading on datapads. So it seems we have about a fifteen minute walk to the book store." He rolled his eyes at Nex's comment about their training. "Don't worry, there's still plenty of hours left in the day. Anything particular you'd like to learn?"
@UnluckyFellow Nex looked at Cyrus dumbfounded for a few moments, just struggling to come up with something. He just didn't know what to ask, he didn't know what he could ask for. "I...really don't know. And I really don't know because I don't know what I could learn." he was able to admit, final finding the words to use, "what is there that I could learn? What can I possibly begin to understand at my level. I can barely comprehend what the force is let alone how to use it properly." After an extended pause, he finally spoke up. A sly smile across his face. "You" he stated, "I want to learn more about my mentor, what sort of man he is, what sort of Jedi he is. Because admittingly I don't know much about you. I know you have younger brothers, your family lives nears selonians, and that you're a Jedi. That's about it really it. Kriff, I don't even know your last name. And that's not a concern for Kushiban because we don't have any, but I know humans do and that might be something to know. I think if I got to know you better as person instead of just mentor, it'd make our training even better. Might even help strengthen this force...feeling...thingy we seem to have."
Cyrus shook his head a bit trying to come up with something. "Well you've got a point there. Easy to tell this is my first go with the whole teaching thing isn't it?" As for helping you better understand the Force...it'll probably be easier if you have a few lessons on atomic theory first. Me explaining it further kind of depends on a few examples you wouldn't understand without that knowledge first." The Jedi shoved his hands in his pockets and smirked. "Don't take this the wrong way but you're really quite sharp, aren't you Nex? I mean for not really having a lot of book knowledge you just kind of...innately understand quite a bit." His pace slowed just a little so they'd have time to talk before actually getting to the store without having to find some place to stand around. "Where do I even start...well first off my last name is Blackstone. As far as we know, my family has been on Talus at least 200 years. Umm...we've run the same game preserve for quite a while. Right....a game preserve is a place to raise animals either for occasional use as food or to help keep the population up." "Hmm, I guess you could say that with the exception of the bits of technology we had that our life probably wasn't all that different from Kushibah but that might be going a bit too far in comparison. Can't really say that growing up I ever wanted for anything, there were a few bad years but never any real hardship I guess." "As for what type of Jedi I am...well I'll just have to teach that by example now won't I?" He flashed a grin at the creature on his shoulder.
@UnluckyFellow "Talus is much like Kushibah, huh...D-Does that mean that Talus has Xinkra?" he said, getting visibly distressed at the prospect that there were monsters like that elsewhere, "keep in mind that a Xinkra standing on its hind legs would be roughly..." He looked around them, spotting a building that was close to three meters in height. He pointed toward it and made sure Cyrus understood the gravity behind his own words. If Talus had Xinkra then he may have had to post pone his visit to the Blackstone residence. At least until he could properly wield a lightsaber or was able to hold them back with a thought. "I really hope you don't have predators like them. They're the main reason Kushiban live so high up in the trees. Probably also the reason why we have climbing claws and the ability to climb up sheer walls." he looked to Cyrus, "I miss Kushibah and all that...but I can do without those beasts haunting me. Thank the force they're deathly afraid of fire. We probably wouldn't stand a chance otherwise." He slowed his breathing down and calmed himself down, trying to focus on what Cyrus said and not simply his speculation on the matter. He took a deep breath and continued with the conversation as normal. "So you used to be a...farmer then I take it? Except you farmed...animals?...really?" he asked as if his sudden freak out never happened, "bare in mind that we're herbivores, so the concept of keeping animals around for food is...entirely alien to me. And a bit bizarre if I was to add my opinion on the idea. Can you, grow plants on Talus? I've never seen it myself so for all I know it could be like a dust ball like Sand planet, or just a huge city like Coruscant."
"No no, I'm certain we don't have whatever these Xinkra creatures are. Nothing that tall lives on Talus aside from Banthas. What I meant was we had a simple life. Where most of the day would be spent either tending the land or animals, maintaining tools, as opposed to living in a city as a shipbuilder or piloting a starfighter." "That's basically the gist of it. In particular we kept Banthas and sold their milk along with their hides and meat when they finally reached the end of their natural life. There was also a litter of Corellian sand panthers that we looked after. And yes, you can grow food on Talus. Most of the planet is grassland suited to farming."
@UnluckyFellow He listened to Cyrus as he explained himself and his werid animal farm back on Talus. The only animals on Kushibah wanted to eat to them, so raising any of those monsters for any reason sounded like utter insanity. But he heard the Jedi out all the same. If he didn't get entirely why. Eating another animal wasn't something he ever thought of doing. And even if the thought did occur to him he couldn't digest it anyways. It'd be an exercise in futility for him. "Yeah I can't even think about...farming animals really...maybe that's because Kushiban aren't exactly on the highest point on the food chain back home, but I can't quite comprehend it fully. And I'm guessing when you say tools, you mean something overly complicated and complex compared to our farming and harvesting tools. But aside from that whole thing, what else did you do? There had to be moments of down time you had, what'd you do then? Was there anyone else there besides your family? Certainly you have friends back home right."
Cyrus couldn't help but laugh a little bit as his fluffy apprentice had a hard time understanding farming. "Well typically you get to the top of the food chain by eating smaller, fuzzier, animals. But yes, it wasn't like all our time was spent working. We went to school every other day and typically read a lot more in our free time. Dwellings were quite spread out so typically we'd visit friends on the weekends when we brought all our Bantha milk and other goods down to the..fairgrounds I guess you could call them. "Shame to say that aside from a few of the Selonian pups, not really. Most of my friends left the planet as soon as they could, mostly looking for work on Corellia."
@UnluckyFellow "Cyrus" he said flatly, "I am that smaller fuzzier animal. I know my place on the food chain. And It's not high on there. There's a reason why an overwhelming majority of casualties on Kushibah is caused by Xinkra and other carnivorous predator attacks. I know I kinda make Kushibah out to be some sort of horrible death world, but it's really not. Casualties from Xinkra attacks are actually quite rare. And thanks to our ability to harness fire, we're pretty well protected from our natural predators. We even have pointed sticks, and sharpened rocks for general defense against them. We're no warriors, but we can still protect ourselves and our family. We may be low on the food chain, but we have means of keeping ourselves safe and comfortable." He felt kind of bad hearing about Cyrus's friends leaving him for some planet he hasn't bothered ever knowing about, or at the very least forgot that was the actual name of the planet he may have been too before. He considered himself lucky he remembered Coruscant. Ithor might be a name he remembers too, but perhaps not for the best of reasons immediately. Ithor would probably be remembered as "the planet where everything went to the Mynocks". "Well, we're your friends Cyrus." he said lightly nudging the side of his mentors head, "we're in this together. So you have us. And if anything, you have your apprentice. So I'm here for you Cyrus."
@GobMaw_HellSmasha Cyrus reached up to Nex and scratched his head, more out of habit than anything else. Even if he hadn't meant to make it sound that miserable he appreciated the sentiment. "I know you are Nex, that really means a lot. That last bit kinda sounded pretty sad eh? Don't worry about it though, I've never been lonely. Friends, family, the Order, thankfully I've been able to keep darn good company." "Also, every planet has it's quirks. I'm sure Kushibah is quite a wonderful place. So don't worry about giving me the wrong impression of it."
@UnluckyFellow "Well I'm not sure if you're going to be able to see Kushibah like how I see it." Nex stated admittingly about his home, "It doesn't have...anything that the Galaxy has all around it. There's no advanced technology. There's no official starports, the best we have is some wide opened farmlands where ships could land. There's no buildings. We have very little in the means of accomendating alien races. Kushibah is a lush densely forested planet." He thought for a moment, he thought he just made the planet seem even worse to somebody that didn't understand it. So he piped in with a bit of clarification. "It's not like we're unaware of the technology the Galaxy has to offer, we know what starships are, what aliens look like. We just..choose not to use that technology. We don't really need any of it, or have much use for any of it in the first place. We don't get much in the means of galactic travelers, mainly those interested in the Silkweed our planet produces, in fact we have something called the Silkweed Harvest that occurres for a few days every year in which we collect as much of the Silkweed as we can muster in anticipation for galactic traders. Mainly large cargo ships that work for clothing and textile companies from what I can assume. And what we do with the Silkweed-and why these traders want it in the first place-is that we intertwine it and weave it together with the brushed out bits of our fur to create cloths and fabrics in a wide variety in bright and beautiful coloration." As he spoke of the process of how to weave the Silkweed with Kushiban fur he moved his hands as if he was demonstrating the action on invisible pieces of Silkweed and fur. "And thankfully our planet has been relatively untouched by the many wars the Galaxy seems to go through. Such conflicts don't occur back at home. Because I guess aliens don't see any value in Kushibah. We don't have any of the resources that everyone seems to fight over, and we don't have any technology to take, so we're left alone when it comes to that. Regardless, we still have aliens that come to travel and trade still, and what these aliens trade to us in return is usually some very basic farming tools, torches, things of that nature. Nothing too fancy or elaborate, we have no need for such devices. Though they also pay in credits at times, and we sort of have very little use for credits individually, so the credits we do get are pooled together for our entire people as a whole. The one good thing about being bottom of the food chain is that we don't break out into conflicts with each other. There are different Kushiban villages across the planet, but we all consider each other as part of a whole, we're all one people. We look out for one another, protect and care for each other, it's the way we've been able to thrive as a species despite all of the dangers our home posses." He stopped for a moment and stared at Cyrus blankly. Realizing that trying to find out more about Cyrus led to him doing the exact opposite. Letting his master know more about him. He nudged the side of Cyrus's head. "Alright, it's your turn now." he stated, "I've been telling you a lot about me and my home, now you go. Tell me something more about yourself."
