Stalker Bolter is pretty much as powerful as an autocannon. BUT You get full mobility and options to take pistol and knife as a Tac. The new patch allows the SB to be used without the zoom. And considering how melee classes got gutted (which is stupid already), this is just the bullshit cherry on top of the cake. Looks like the King of EC is now the LSM Tac with Stalker. Prepatch everyone complained about stalker bolter but I though the tradeoff of using it only when scoped made it acceptable. Tell me how this is not broken... I know the Devs will always favour the Lsm more but try to be reasonable.
The SB isn't nearly as useful overall as the AC. It does however fill a niche role quite nicely. Its low rate of fire makes it only really threatening in CQC if the user gets the drop on you, or if you get stunned. I don't have any problems against it with a standard bolter/shoota in close quarters. Frankly I've found most complaints against the stalker to be greatly exaggerated compared to my actual encounters with the damn thing. Yes, it hits hard, but unless you're lagging badly, already wounded, or trying to run across an open field they're not too much of an issue.
Probably because alot of people haven't worked out how to change to settings to toggle aim/ switch between ADS and zoom.
When PC was a problem, almost no players where actually using it. In a 20 player match, you'd get 1, maybe 2 players with it. But that was enough to cause a problem. The matches I've had also had a small number of Stalker Bolters. But in the right hands it was extremely obvious who had it, and they'd typically shoot all the way up to the top score. Mind you, it's easy to suck with this weapon too, so it's not like it is low skill high reward. But on someone who's good with this thing? Oh boy. Also, LSM are super diluted with newbs right now. So I don't expect them to have it, much less know how to toggle it.
@jassz Good morning. Strange that you just realised all that nonsense. Your forgot a true Queen of EC called Apothecary (Rambo). A woman with boltgun and new nertecium which have a damage of a chainsword. Also you can heal everything withot stop firing with you BOLTOR and needle your ass if you wounded. Also you can revive yourself countless times until your brotha will help you. This all is a fucking nonsense. LSM oriented game at all.
I´ve tried the stalker bolter yesterday going unscoped in closer ranges and I didn't like it at all. A normal bolter is, in my opinion still leagues ahead in close to medium ranges. The slow fire rate means if you miss your first shot you are pretty much dead to most other weapons. In a perfect scenario, with perfect aim where you always get headshots, the stalker bolter is pretty much OP. But at least in the game I tried it out I´ve at least doubled my kills with my normal cqc pen bolter within 2 minutes after fooling around with the stalker for half the game. Maybe it´s just personal preference but I´m gonna stay with my normal bolter. For balance sake, I would like to see the toggleable scope for stalker disabled and close range damage reduced.
at this point, they should just remove eldar (not sure how orks are) from game. too much focus on LSM (CSM doesn't feel so left behind atm). eldar are almost pug unplayable. let's see what are upcoming patches bringing.
I'd like to complain about the SB... But I haven't met anyone using it so far My personal feeling is Eldar are still in a much better position than Orks.
