Boltguns for Wolf Priests - YES OR NO?

  1. Yes, let them have them!

  2. No, lore and assymetry heresy, burn!

  3. Replace it with Storm Bolter!

  1. I agree with you about loadout diversity but the choice should exist for all if it exist for one.

But apothecary/WP using melee are also nerfing themselves because they can't use the poison from narthecarium.
All jokes appart one main weapon be it melee or range by player is enough, narthecarium has poison as CSM knife or orks dok.

sorceror have wannabepower sword, no knives. To poison he has piece of shit nurgle spell with which you faster die from old age but poison.
  3. Ok, partially true, but what the point... if a JPA get a bolter I am not asking for a main melee weapon, if tactical choose an axe (if it was possible) he won't have access to bolter so why sorcerer should be different?
  4. Aceryl Aceryl Menial

    Because the apothecary has both?

    Narthecarium > knife
    Narthecarium > force sword
    +
Bolter > All the psychic powers together

So yeah, a bolter and a force sword....wouldn't be any more outrageous than bolter + narthecarium ^^

There's one particular way you can see the inbalance.

    Dbash someone:

Can you kill it with an apothecary bolter? Yes

Can you kill it with Flickering fire?Nope
Can you kill it with Daemonic bolt? No time
Can you kill it with Stream of corruption?Nope..not even get a full poison bar
Can you kill it with lash? Not enough time for 3 lashes

This is just one small test

that sounds like a sorcerer problem rather than apoth/wolf.
just putting it out there i only play medic on lsm my view is a bit bias but i do believe the spells for casters need to be buffed appropriately.
though the devs were trying to move all medics kill effectiveness down to encourage other classes but casters need to be glass cannons with their spells otherwise it defeats their purpose since we've move away from 40k stats to generic RPG

I wonder... if the devs didn't intend support classes to be powerful killing machines and if they wanted to support gameplay before lore, then why did they scrap that and give them a boltgun which is basically one of the best weapons in the game, all because it's lore friendly (Or cause LSM lose too much due to their incompetence again)...?

While we're at this route and as mentioned previously, give sorcerers boltguns, give wolf priests storm bolters too, give Eldar 2 times faster movement speed, make mark of khorne useful by having him actually able to survive and not be a weaker version of everything else, for fucks sake pull out the books and go by the lore if you're not gonna go by the gameplay.

They said in the stream "It's lore friendly so it's fine" even tho you know its kind of a support, assymetrical special chaplain esque class, so does that mean fuck gameplay/fixing melee/making the class special right? I mean I understand they want to go with solutions that please both lore and somewhat gameplay considering other apothecaries have boltguns but do they not remember that wolf priests were meant to be the first special subfaction class? Or did they completely scrap that?

To my eyes they might aswell remove the corzius and replace it with a chainsword now as the wolf priest is nothing but a better apothecary, there is absolutely no reason not to go space wolf now that it has a boltgun. And if the reason was that the mauls suck and they're very situational THEN FIX THEM! Don't go use easy temporary solutions like adding them a boltgun which wasn't even a complaint by the community nor a big demand in the first place. Infact all they did is cause even more conflicts!

A solution I see would be: Fix melee, make mauls and the corzius good, remove boltguns from them, then have it be basically a "Apoth better at melee but no ranged options" while the regular apoth would be "OK at melee but with a ranged option", if you're not gonna make the priests any more special than what they are with the maul.
Alb, Aceryl and Katitof like this.

    My bad....It's a sorcerer problem.
    And a warlock problem.
    And a painboy problem.

Oh it's everyones problem except for apothecary and black apothecary.

If the intent is to diminish Support kills, and put them at their support role, EZ, here's the solution:
Give the apothecary a power maul. Remove his bolter.
    Remove Wolf priest bolter.

    EZ fix.
Even the fact that you only play medic, while playing LSM....states the obvious.
Other support classes are borfed in comparison.

like @KharnVarus said. If the devs want support role because of gameplay: then Apothys need a nerf. If the devs want to give a bolter to WP because it's lore friendly...then buff up All the other Supports aswell because in lore they are much more offensive than a freeking white marine who finished med school. Their own statements are contradictory on themselves, and there is no real reason behind this change.

my point was all the other medic classes need a buff to begin with to make them worth something other than hide in a corner heal bot as everyone (apparently) points out/ whines on the forums . it might just be a me thing being an average skill player but though i have a stock bolter on my apoth the 2-7 kills/assists a life comes from my Narthecarium. i don't put myself in positions where i need it (and since taking a chainsword is just a waste of space even as a backup), since in those situations ANY ranged unit will face F! you with projectiles and their higher survivablity.

3-4edition allowed wolves to take a boltgun if they wished though unless they changed it in later editions and apoth cant take a crozius arcarum or a power weapon (i stoped playing tt after the begining of 4th when they screwed chaos over in my oppion while buffing lsm chapters and ig). if eldar cant get much customization because GW would flip their shit i would think the same about that.

maybe you might want to read that line again, i play all the classes for eldar csm lsm and sometimes orcs but their medics. i put out that forewarning that i only had much more experience with apoth compared to the other healers and mostly been on the receiving end of their abilities/ spells.

Nvm, you missed all the 3 points.

    Summing it up:

    1. It's been more than discussed that other supports needed attention for longer than the WP
    2. GAme dev does not care about the lore. Unless when it comes to give WP a bolter, is the lore valid
    3. You playing support only as apothecary, shows a preference that everyone tends to follow. Usually that's a big pointer of something beeing inbalanced in a game. I'm not saying you don't know the other supports. I'm saying that it's a known fact that Apoth is easy mode, and is outperforming, specially the other support classes.
