Boltguns for Wolf Priests - YES OR NO?

  1. Yes, let them have them!

  2. No, lore and assymetry heresy, burn!

  3. Replace it with Storm Bolter!

If so, then the damage you get by dropping the 40 (or current 20Pen) is what you should get by taking a powermaul -> Without running numbers, about 5 to 10 damage. Powermaul damage is now 110.
PowerAxe is now 105, because between sword and maul.

Question that I ask to myself: who takes a powersword now? Someone who wants speed of a powermaul, and penetration I guess.

    Again. 2 builds:
    - Maul: Anti-Eldar
    - Axes: Anti Ork + good at anti-tank.
    - Power swords: good at anti infantry.

    ... somewhat no.
You can't get the damage you lose from Pen AND get higher Impact for the SAME COST. That's plain stupid and completely absurd. (And extremely poorly balanced)

You'll probably never get it, it's not "LSM's Lore" accurate enough. /s

    To put a comparison out:

If a basic marine sergeant hits with sword+pistol (3 attacks) then on average against another marine, he'll hit once or twice, and has a 50/50 shot to wound once, killing his target with no save.

If he hits with a maul, he's going to have a 5/6 chance to wound, but the enemy will have a 4/6 chance to survive it.

If he hits with an axe, he's got to survive an enemy's hit first to strike back, with a 4/6 chance to kill his target on a wound. Same deal with a power fist, only instead he only has 2 hits, not 3.

To put this into game terms:
If you have a Chainsword, you should have no pen. In this case, it's 100.
If you equip a Power Sword, you now ignore Relic Armor (120) (even though this is equivalent to terminator armor in the real game by comparison)
If you equip a Power Maul, you have 100 pen (which should be base eldar armor, or Ork 'ard boyz but since orks get shafted they can't even opt for it).
If you equip a Power Axe, you have 200 pen (or fist equivalent) to ignore all possible armor/toughness.

If bE want to be true to the weapon roles, then toughness/pen needs to be dialed back. if 80 pen was the baseline before, vs 100 toughness, then yes, a chainsword should likewise be pen 80. Mauls should be pen 100, to keep the scale correct. Likewise, Chainaxes should -not- be doing more damage or swinging more slowly, but they should also be 100 pen. bE should make mauls be high damage, heavy impact, and pen 100 with no swing speed penalty.

  4. I was just spitballing ideas. As it is now the P mace and P ax are basically the same weapon, one has slightly higher dmg, the other slightly higher impact, but both as slow as the P fist. At least, in fast attack speed, and almost the same strong attack speed as the fist if we are honest.

Giving the mace a lower pen...which makes sense when you think about it, blunt weapon, no edge. But, give it higher impact so it can possible withstand a fist more effectively than other weapons. I don't know...

But their current state is terrible. There is a reason that hardly anyone is running ax or mace, outside of the occasional Manslayer. I haven't seen the Electrified Choppa in quite some time.

Would actually be fun to see the "concussive" implemented. So if you managed to land 1 hit, the opponent would be Off balance for 2-3 seconds, making his melee speed slower, and/or not beeing able to shoot, because...you know...concussion.

Axe and maul speeds need an update because they are as slow as fists.
Just the other day, i had by choppa beeing interrupted by a dagger.

Quick attack vs quick attack, mine got interrupted. No RPS
  6. Iratus Iratus Prefectus

This is something I've complained about many times, including RPS being fucking worthless when lag is factored in with the awkward swing speeds.

Technically they have concussive already in the game. If you code Mauls to apply a 2-3 second Grav debuff, there ya go, that's concussive.
  7. Aceryl Aceryl Menial

That would definetely be worth taking, so that your target wouldn't run away from you, and was actually forced to fight you, because you know.... High spread while shooting, and slowed movement speed.

There, put it in BOLD, and code it. Don't forget about the attack speed beeing slightly increased, if not only for the simple reason that it needs to follow RPS. Just that.

The things they did to axes and maces, really put everyone using swords again. if i recall correctly, we have been here before already

Howling Banshees take Power Swords, I think.

Mauls and Axes are just bloody useless right now. At least the bloody fist can damage vehicles and one shot people. Now their just a waste of LP and handicap anybody trying melee. If you can get shot mid swing with a sword you will get shot more with any slower weapon.

It's an insult that they simply gave a boltgun to a melee based class just to make him viable. It's not only bad design it's a LAZY COP OUT.

    Next patch:

GA - Get's a bolter to use along with his shield.

For 100lp, you can reload while shielding.

    GA melee fixed ;)
