I think they are pretty fast, although the speed depends on wargear, like give a weight for all the weapons and equipement and that will effect your speed. Also certain classes have a natural slower speed, for example Devastator < Tactical < Assault (or maybe assualt is slower than tactical on foot because of a heavy jet pack)
So here's my take on it: Situations we want to avoid: - SANIC SPEED SPESS MAHREEN - People running away from each other and one party never being able to catch up with the other party Now there has been talk by the devs about Terminator speed. So I would like the concept of 'acceleration' to be applied to all races, just at different rates....with EVERYONE HAVING THE SAME TOP SPEED. E.g. Terminators/equivalent units: Acceleration rate: Slow Space Marines/Chaos/Orks Acceleration rate: Moderate Eldar: Acceleration rate: Fast All I'm saying is everyone can eventually run at the same speed. It just takes them slightly different times to get to that speed. I'd say this is a fair compromise between lore and gameplay.
So basically what the lore says then is that a Space Marine who decides to use a warbike or landspeeder is choosing to half his movement rate to get a comfy chair?
We are not worthy enough of going that fast in EC. Though i guess we can squeeze it as a costly hero ability on a 24h cooldown, sound and all.
They also go crazy faster. What, too soon? I really don't think space marines in EC should be as powerful as they are in the lore. Give them the impression that they are powerful, but not the one man armies that they are in the books.
