Space Marine Population 47%+?

I think the numbers will even out later on. A lot of marine players are unfamiliar with the other races and some people like being underdogs. I'll play marine to get my EMPRAH stuff in but I might end up being more of an Eldar player.
  2. I feel that SM will be full of N00bz(and of course, orkz too) while Eldar and Chaos will have the truly dedicated and elite fans.

  3. For those here in general discussion, who didn't buy Founder's Pack and cannot access Founder Lounge. This is how Founder Faction Choice looks like for today:

    • Space Marines: 250 votes
    • Chaos Space Marines: 122 votes
    • Orks: 61 votes
    • Eldar: 97 votes
    • Not sure: 39 votes
We could assume that a lot of players who are going to play only as orks, didn't see reason to buy Founder's Pack... those making them unable to cast a vote there (which is unlikely).

Secondly... Don't you think that at launch people will just test orks to see how game feels... and then buy an access to SM faction, because:
    1. ...as FabricatorGeneral already said, Space Marines represent GW's most popular faction and the most common entry point into 40k.
    2. ...that's the faction players will probably see the most of in their playtime.

It would appear I must correct you, my good sir. Ork players are going to be a bunch of Nobz. :p

I recently replied to a post with the same concerns as the OP so ill just cut'n'paste rather than retype.

"Meh this is what you get when GW keeps banging the Spess Mehrine drum. They should tout the rest of the IP ALOT!! more. IMHO Spess Mehrines are the worst faction in 40k. Their underpinning characteristics boil down to fanaticism and murderousness with no substantial interests outside of these defining traits. Their motives are either ""Kill the unworthy!" (I.e. xenos or heretics) or "For the Emperor!". The former is generally used to justify anything they want. Give these traits and motives it makes me wonder whether they where modelled on the Waffen-SS?

As for the population imbalanced that will probably be solved by the phenomenon itself. For instance can you imagine any of the Mehrine population saving some of the unworthy for their butt buddies to shoot? Or will a large portion of the Mehrines be lucky to see an unworthy let alone shoot one. Players will migrate to different factions to try them out and when they realise that there's more fight to be had with a different faction they will probably stay."
  6. Yup, but you can't use the numbers in the way you have. It's not a dynamic number.

There are 2,500 of each weapon type available now. That's safely less than 5% of the minimum expected player base for each faction on a global server (50,000) for launch. Not unreasonable.

Once they're gone, they're gone. But if the player base rises, more LE items could be released. At that point it may broadly track 5% of the overall population (probably will be released in batches though) but you can't multiply current sales of the LE items by 20 to estimate the current population size of any given faction.

The ratio between them may be a broadly useful indicator. In case you're interested, it's not too different from the existing polls.

    Err...cunning xenos.

Well sir, it wasn't me that made the calculation; I simply wanted to answer your question regarding what someone else stated. As you seem to agree on yourself; it's more of an estimation or hint. ;)

this is exactly how the TT game is, all space marines all the time. just the way it is. i willl ABSOLUTELY be playing a space marine character, but i've already locked in names/gear for the other factions. also as i understand it, the more of one race there are, the more the tyranids will attack THAT faction so in the end it'll probably work out
  10. Apologies, 'Scape. I completely mistargeted that quote - it should have been Benny quoted. I blame brain failure on my part from too long in the warp.
