A good way to fix this problem would be to ban all human players.

    Nice try Necron.
  3. Based on the information I've read it won't be a hope, the campaign director will set goals that set each faction against one another and the more territory a faction owns the more likely you will have multiple factions attacking you. If one faction is being attacked by all 3 other factions I find it hard to believe that the sm will still have a numbers advantage, and a well organized less populated faction should still be able to make progress on the war front when the sm have to address multiple attacks on multiple fronts.

At the end of the day it's gonna be up to us to convince our friends and guilds to consider something other than SM. Shoot them a 40k wiki link to a different faction and the rest will take care of itself.

That will work only if they aren't engaging with each other. If 2 factions have territory borders with each other there is always going to be players who want to try and take those bases instead of fighting for the main objective. It happens in PS2 and it will happen in EC and I've already explained what will happen (iirc anyway, it's been near on 2 months since I was last here). The factions are going to have to be roughly equal in pop unless they are specifically designed to be underpopulated (and definitely not be territory focused). Never underestimate sheer numbers in the face of tactics or organisation.

I'm not worried about other factions getting guilds/outfits/clans, it's the random 'pub' players that are going to flock to SM that are going to swing the balance. You want to make sure the CSM/Eldar get a fair bit more exposure so those people will be more inclined to choose them (Orks having f2p to boost their numbers).

Worst case, you could always rebrand the game as "Space Marine Online" and make all other races F2P, like LotRO with its Monster Play. :D

On a more serious note, though, BornOfDesire has a point. The current setup of factions does allow a more or less faithful representation of the background, as the Orks will (hopefully) garner at least sufficient F2P support to form a sizeable Waaagh (perhaps with NPCs, judging from the other thread), whilst the Eldar always were about small bands doing hit&run attacks. The only problematic faction seems to be CSM, but they might be able to attract sufficient players to at least represent a proper incursion, whilst the Loyalist Space Marines will be unable to focus all their attention on the aforementioned armies due to Tyranids.

It only gets more problematic once you start adding in more factions, so perhaps this idea should be reconsidered, depending on how player activity looks like following the launch of the game. Perhaps even four factions are too much already.

Or better yet, lend them a Codex rather than the link to one of the fan-edited wikis composed of 80% Black Library Space Marine hype, to say nothing of the misquoted or made-up stuff. Otherwise you might just end up making them want to go Astartes even more. :p

First paragraph off topic, just need to vent.

Right wing bastard political party in my country (New Zealand) just got in for another 3 years of oppression. There go workers rights, animal rights, tax cuts for the rich tax increases for the poor, more of a rift between the havs and the have nots, yes that makes perfect sense. Christ, the morons I have in my country who got this lying under handed self serving bastard in. Time for revolution, heads on pikes in parliament already.

Saying that, I apologize for any outburst below, again just venting. Now, onwards.

    Guys need to harden up.

I spent years as the underdog on the "good" side of Order in Warhammer Online, age of Reckoning being stupidly outnumbered by ridiculous odds and still managed to carve myself a descent foot hold picking off flabby stragglers not used to the constant balls to the wall environment of Order.

So your logic is flawed, yes the numbers are leaning heavily towards SM but its something else other than just because their the "good guys".

Lol and the "nerf them buff me" discussion begins even before the game is released. I say its bloody well time Destruction had a taste of their own bollocks zerg mentality.

Though I'll be sad to give up the underdog side being so much more rewarding than just rolling with the zerg. I might end up giving up the only thing close to Dwarfs 40k has so I don't feel like a complete douche steamrolling everything in site with the SM zerg.

Getting them all today lol. Yes because that is a well considered and thought out piece of logic.

So by that impeccable reasoning, having been been a fan of Pre 40k Warhammer for 2 years in beta before release and an 8 year veteran post release in game for Age of Reckoning on the side of Order. Having been forced into 40k lore due to EA / Mythics bollocks sell out and GW not re selling the IP because of miss handling and profit loss that somehow makes me a noob once again choosing the side of order only in the 41st millennium despite the years invested. Yes. Flawless logic.

Besides I consider myself as a Space Wolf slave to none, neither the Emperor of Man or the Chaos gods hold any leish on me and my wolf brothers.

On a lighter note yet still pressing note, the ever important question of how much Dakka and What about Choppa?

Now that we've established that a Dakkagun can indeed "Dak Dakka" I put it to you that Dakka Guns can also Dakk Choppas!.

Baring that in mind, how much Choppa could a Dakka Gun Dakk if a Dakka Gun could Dak Choppas, and would it hold any great importance to the WAAAGH!!! effort or just cause more problems.

And if a Dakka Gun could Dak Choppas, and would Dakk Choppas, Should a Dakka Gun Dakk said Choppas?

So in this scenario exactly how much Choppa should a Dakka Gun Dakk?

And finaly, screw the emperor, I'm off to the wolf time having been shunned as a mutant wolf.

I never said buff X or nerf Y, dunno what the hell are you talking about.
  9. I think ive said quite a few reasons why this should not matter so much in the long run, not going to say it again.

I have a question, maybe a stupid one but... The game will release in something like 15 months...
Why don't you just wait and see what happens ?o_O

Strategie before the game, how the population will be balanced, you can't know how it will be before the launch ^^'

I think many people will probably play an other race if there is 50% Marines on the battlefield, stop thinking all players are assholes...

And for the "Good People are always pick in first choice", that's just a lie.
In PS2 for the example, NC are the good people, fighting for liberty, and on some server Vanu or RT are the most populated. Why EC will be a difference ?

Please stop crying before get hurt.

EDIT : Well, you got me, that was just a wild Necrothread. ><'
