  1. AFAIK this is a skills based game where stats will only make a marginal impact and those stats will make the classes perform better at doing specific things. So generally no I dont like this concept at all.

Now if this was kind of class based with a tiny race modifier I might actually dig it.

  2. I was going to criticise any model which arbitrarily shafted the Orks and made the Space Marines more powerful than both Orks and Eldar, and then realised that the idea was to make the Chaos marines even more ridiculously powerful than that at close range.

At which point Tzeentch told me to shut up, because its all part of his grand plan for domination.

Still think this balancing would be terrible, though - and very much agree with my fellow heretic Sledgecrushr.

  3. With that being said, do you have any ideas that would make each faction more... unique straight out of the gate? Or warp portal? Or rok in the ground, or wherever it is your faction comes from?

This is the age old problem of balance vs lore in 40k.

Space marines need to be powerful, but they need to be balanced. Ideally by hordes of orks overwhelming them.

I would go for even more extreme differences.

And you would be about right but only partially:

Chaos Marines are best 1v1 in close combat as they are in tabletop, but have worse aim and slower dodge roll.(Khorne Lords whit Daemon weapons for example,Daemon Princes)

Space Marines are best at range and close in everything else to the Chaos Marines.

Eldar are slim thus harder to hit and extremely mobile, second only to Space marines in gun accuracy giving them superior mobility to run in or out of combat leaving everyone else in the dust.

Orks Boys have great number but lower stats.

Ork Nobz have extreme defensive stats and hit slow but like a truck.

Orks in greater number receive boost of up to 20% to all stats if in extreme large numbers thus are most dangerous in such then rest of the races.

    So all is actually balanced!

Thx for the praise, but i would not actually want same stats whit no armor in between orks/ marines/chaos/eldar as that would be reskin of every race whit no differences.

And i would not play such a game my self. As it totally breaks the fluff.

I like your style, but remember when on all race differences that i have written you add the fact that marines have 5 times better protection from the armor then the orks, more extreme stats do not seem to be that necessary.

  10. The problem with TT balancing in EC is that the points/population mechanics don't come over. A mechanic reliant on Ork Boyz being numerous requires some kind of cap on other races - we already know SM will have a population advantage over Chaos/Eldar based on several polls here. So they can't be made into killing machines without dominating the world.

I'm all for units having some of those effects (e.g. Chaos Raptor and Assault Marine being lethal in 1v1 but with poor accuracy and dodge/roll), but at a racial level I feel all players need to be pretty much equal. Flavour is fine, but nothing game changing unless handled very carefully.

It's one of those areas where I feel gameplay balancing has to take precedence over the lore. You don't have to agree. ;)
