Imo, that's not really how a marine is likely to think. To them the bolter is holy and just, it's a righteous instrument of death. Remember that they revere their weapons. Plus, by detouring back up to the armoury after just dropping down two floors, with the gellar field about to fail at any second, is likely a death sentence.
