"Orks... Can never defeat enough of them." Zhu replied and gave him a nod as the mission parameters were completely clear now. "If you take the right, I take the left!" The Salamander inquired from his brother, quickly following him with burst shots in the area of chest and head of the Orks that popped up.

Seeing that the younger son of Vulkan took the lead, Li'ang turned around and moved backward, keeping his back clean. "Or well, you take the front and I take the rear!"

    Mission Two

    In To The Abyss

Barely a day passed before the Inquisitor had arrived. He was, as so many are, accompanied by a retinue--a collection of various fighters, priests and technicians. His ragtag group of men and women cast accusing glances toward every man, be he marine or human, that they came across. But their work was that of The Emperor, and they were treated with the correct level of accommodation--and wariness.

''Inquisitor Leogan, is is an honour,'' the sergeant said, nodding to the man. The inquisitor waved his hand dismissively.

''Yes, yes. Such formality, is it really necessary Space Marine?'' the inquisitor asked, brushing past the sergeant, and the chaplain.

''Very well,'' the sergeant said, turning to follow. The inquisitor's abruptness had taken the sergeant by surprise, but at least the man was honest. The green-clad giant followed in the footsteps of the far smaller man, whose trench coat flowed behind his every step. The rest of the marines had gathered in to the hanger bay to greet the inquisitor, but their presence was ignored. His retinue, however, took a few moments to observer the Salamanders--likely looking for anything which might be out of place, as is their role.

''Show my people to their quarters, if you'd please? I will stand watch on the bridge. Please see to it that the sacred relic I brought aboard is interred in to the temple-shrine.''

''A relic, inquisitor?'' the sergeant asked. Leogan stopped in his tracks, turning back to the Threlvar--seemingly not intimidated despite the martial prowess, and superhuman engineering of the marine before him.

''Yes. A present for the Orks. I trust that I shan't need it aboard this vessel?''

''Very well, inquisitor,'' Threlvar said with a nod.

With the inquisitor's retinue in their quarters, and his relic housed away safely, the Orison of Nocturne made ready for the warp jump barely thirty minutes after the inquisitor's arrival. Prayers echoed around the hallowed vessel, and last minute preparations were made for the journey through The Warp.

''Seal the ship,'' the shipmaster ordered.

''Locking the vessel down. All hatches sealed,'' the crewman reported back.

    ''Navigator, is our course set?''

''Yesss shipmassster,'' the navigator said, his lispy voice seemed to hiss his every word.

    ''Gellar field status?''

    ''100%, shipmaster,'' the crewman said.

    ''Power the warp-drives.''

''Aye, shipmaster. Powering up,'' the helmsman said. ''50%''

''Brace yourself, lads,'' the shipmaster said.

    ''75%''

The chanting throughout the ship's speaker system intensified, as more voices joined in with the prayers.

    ''90%, warp hole opening.''

The ship began to shake violently as the transition to the warp began.

    ''100%, warp-drive engaged!''

With the members of second squad watching on from her bridge, the vessel stepped in to the maw of the abyss. Realspace stretched thin around the vessel, as she entered in to the warp itself, before being left behind entirely. The hellish realm surrounded them on all sides, its denizens clawing at their ship--kept out only by the power of the ship's gellar field.

Soon after their arrival in to the warp, the crew of the Orison were overcome with a sense of dread and foreboding--more so than is usual, even for warp travel.

''Shipmaster, we have a breach on deck fifteen, section eight,'' one of the crew reported.

Somehow a couple of the sealed pressure hatches had opened. Screams could be heard throughout the vessel, and there were reports of gunfire in the lower decks.

    ''Report?!'' the shipmaster demanded.

''I--I don't know. We've got reports of gunfire and screams.''

''We must withdraw from this jump,'' Sergeant Threlvar said, alert sirens screaming all about the bridge of the ship.

''No. We must press forward!'' the Inquisitor insisted, slamming his fist in to the arm of the chair he was sat on.

To their side the navigator, Jacobson, began to mutter incoherently, his frosted breath billowing with each word.

''Jacobson, status?'' the shipmaster asked. ''Navigator, status?!''

Jacobson looked up, ignoring his shipmaster's request, and stared directly at Zhu Li'ang. Roaring as he pulled his laspistol from his holster, Jacobson launched forward in to a frenzied attack, firing at the Astartes.

    Mission Two Briefing:
Deal with Jacobson, by any means necessary. Quell any further rebellions by the human crew whose sanity has been drained.

    Notes:
Further information will be issued as soon as Jacobson is defeated/captured/maimed or whatever else (which will not take long, obviously).

Mytis was soon brought to attention by the frantic attack on his Brother, having spent his time reading while waiting for the jump to complete. He had to intervene, seeing as there was no time to come up with a plan of action. So he quickly sprinted to the Navigator, shoulder first in an attempt to at least knock down the attacker, for simply shooting him would be a rash action.

    Before Briefing

"Tactics was never my strong suit, shooting however...", The "shoot everything ahead of you" technique seemed to be working fine, until he had to reload that is. Technically it was only a ranged course, but as he reloaded Scytella allowed himself to shoulder bash through one target to avoid a horde ahead of him.

It didn't take long before he reached the objective and picked it up, maglocking the bolter to his belt and taking out his pistol he turned around to run back only to be confronted with a veritable horde of orks he had bypassed. He ran towards the right and backwards to make sure the xeno simulators were clustered up before darting left and running around the mass.

A trick that fooled the poor machine spirits rather than proper caution? Perhaps, but it didn't take long before he made it back to the beginning and ended the training. "Without your shooting brother, I never would have made it." He put a hand on the other marine's shoulder. "It will be as glourious as always to fight along side you."

    After "Briefing"

The sudden attack surprised him, but as Mystis attacked he drew his bolter and shouted: "Stand down Jacobson, or I'll have no choice!" The salamander saw Jacob get up and aimed the bolter. But it was too late, he had already stabbed a another serf. The emperor's mercy spoke from Scytella's bolter, aimed squarely at the human's chest.

The navigator, unable to weather the hit from an Astartes, was flung backward across the ship's deck--his gun thrown elsewhere on the bridge. He recovered and unsheathed his sword. Before anyone could react he had stabbed a crew member in the gut.

The bolt round blew the navigator apart, his pulped body rained across the bridge. The crew stares in disbelief, until one of them spoke out.

''Shipmaster, we have lost contact with the starboard side of the vessel,'' the comms officer said.

    ''How much of the starboard?''

    ''All of it, sir.''

''What the hell is going on?'' the shipmaster asked, observing the leftovers of the slain madman. His blood soaked the floor through where his body had once been.

''The madness of the warp, shipmaster. It can take any of us,'' the inquisitor said, before remembering there were Astartes in his midst, and then adding, ''well, almost any of us.''

''We must leave this jump,'' the sergeant said again, reiterating his earlier statement.

Before anyone could respond, be it in agreement or not, there was a loud shrieking sound, which reverberated around the vessel, seemingly vibrating the whole ship.

''Shipmaster! The gellar field is at 80%, and dropping!'' the console operator said. ''75%!''

''By The Emperor! Drop us from our jump, immediately!'' the shipmaster commanded of the navigator. The navigator nodded, but failed to act. Instead he shot at the controls of the vessel's gellar field, before being killed by a bolt from Sergeant Threlvar. The splattered remains of the man showered the area, sending another of the crew in to a panicked frenzy, which culminated in him shooting himself.

''The controls are destroyed,'' the sergeant said, examining the broken console. The wiring inside was severed and sparking, whilst parts of the intricate circuitry where melted from the shot.

''Emperor save us,'' the shipmaster muttered.

Quite suddenly the ship jerked violently--throwing everyone forward, even the bulky Space Marines. More warning sirens rang out, as holes appeared in the vessel's hull. Whole sections, containing hundreds of men, were sucked away in to the warp. The sergeant heard a cry and turned to his side, where he saw the shipmaster's torso sliding down a Hellbalde, courtesy of a foul Chaos Bloodletter!

''Daemons!'' he yelled. ''Purge them!'' Taking hold of his chainsword, the sergeant charged in.

    Supplementary Briefing:

    Repel the Daemon attack.

    Notes:

With the ship in the midst of a warp jump, most of the vessel is in lock down--meaning that most of the doors are sealed closed. If you're imaginative/skilled then that won't stop you getting around.

Your highest priority is dealing with the failing gellar field, before the ship's defences are entirely lowered. The ship's automated defence guns are also malfunctioning, for reasons which are--as of yet--unknown. Attempts to communicate with the engineers have failed. Temperature control and the vital life support systems appear to have also been damaged, and the ship is starting to freeze through in some sections.

The daemons are teleporting in as they please, all across the vessel. Currently only bloodletters have been spotted, but others may appear. The human crew may be fighting back, lost to madness or already be dead. Some parts of the ship's outer hull have been breached, and those sections have been emptied of all life.

You must decide, be it as an individual, or as a group, where to go and which problem to tackle first. The sergeant shall remain on the bridge, to ensure that the vital members of the crew are not lost.

As an aside, it's not important to have a technical layout of the ship. Just assume that the gellar field controls, life support, temperature controls and the automated defence controls, are fairly close to each other, with several sealed doors separating them.

With only one bolter round spent, Scytella emptied the rest of his clip into the bloodletter. Hoping to send it back to the warp.

So much for the pre-battle rituals of the Salamanders, the Brander-Priest had been stoking the flames back in the shrine. Tsen'Tal hoped the man would survive, he had spent many years of his long life serving the Company. Still, there was nothing to be done for it now. The Chaplain thundered forward, Crozius alight and bleeding energy as his red lenses blazes with fury, a fiery banishment on his lips as he sought to crush the nearest Daemon. "- I cast you out, foul Warp Spawn! See now the enemies of Mankind, Brothers! Their very existence is an offense to be burnt! Into the Fires of Battle!" Even as he prepared a return swing, he left the battlecry half finished, to allow his Battle Brothers to reply in turn. War had found them, they would answer.
