The "only" reason to take Destructor is because it does in fact go through shield bros.

Pistol is still valuable because of Destructor's limited range. Also, once you quickly burn through all of your pistol ammo, you can fall back to Destructor for finishing off regular non-shielders if needed.

This so much. The fact that you stop sprinting because there's an animation of switching to your bolt pistol when you meant to switch to your other spell is headscratching and frustrating.

I like the option to lose the pistol but I'd probably take it on the sorc anyway. The bolter and plasma pistol (if i ever had enough LP left over to get it) outshine all offensive spells for damage and cost a lot less. I probably get 5 or more kills a match from pistols.

I think this is also a pretty valid option and would give pretty muh every class a free 50 point wiggle room over what we have now. Enough for a secondary wargear option that you might not be able to equip otherwise.

I Loik dis 'ere idea. Some o' me loadouts don't need dat sidearm. Could 'ave more flashy bitz and wot not
