You guys are completely missing the point if you think I'm complaining about a Sorcerer's kill numbers. Where in my first post did I say anything about Sorcerers not killing enough? I mean it's pretty true but that's not my main concern! BARELY ANYONE PLAYS THE DAMN THING THAT'S THE PROBLEM! In a team based game supports are the most important class in the group and the big difference maker between factions. Right now Chaos is fighting with a blunted knife versus a sharpened sword. Let's look at the metric charts again and I'll be more specific in what I'm looking at: The middle chart is what I am drawing attention to which shows class frequency in play. Sorcerer is notably lower than any other class through this entire play period! Even with the healing buff it remains the lowest by a large margin even with the slight increase in players! @Djemo-SRB has pointed out exactly why Sorcerers are not being played. Currently there are far too many bugs plaguing the class. Now this chart is admittedly hard to read with any accuracy since I'm not sure the time frame these numbers were taken. At this moment I'm going to assume it's similar to the first chart where it's between patch 14-16. If that is true then Olipsis and Black bolt are pretty meaningless since patch 15 we couldn't even play those maps past the first day. Also you have to take into consideration the imbalance issues with the MoN and the increase in players for Pegasus/Torias fudging these numbers as well. Harkus is the only constant out of the bunch which is why I am looking specifically at that match compared to the others. I've already stated that ground assaults don't make much of a difference so we can rule out any imbalance issues with them screwing numbers up there. The player count has not changed at all since it's inception so I would say this is the most accurate figure of the bunch. The end result is LSM win twice as often over Chaos. I've already stated my belief for this is because of the lack of support players and just the impotency of the class in general. Sorcerers getting a few more kills wouldn't fix this situation either I WANT THEIR HEALS BROUGHT UP IN EFFECTIVENESS!
I left this one out because it's a confusing mess of a chart with no real meaning outside of the fact that LSM play supports more often.
Sorcerer does need some love, I personally feel a Force Sword should be -better- than a power sword, as it IS a power sword which has the added love of being able to channel the warp. It should make a mockery of a chainsword as far as clangs go. Second, the streams themselves are very buggy, this just needs to be fixed and i'm sure it will be in time.
Yup, kills arent really the point of the problem here. I can kill and be in a positive K/D, or i can have a bad one based on the map and if im a defender or attacker, but im never really expecting to have anywhere near the K/D i have when i get on a Tactical or a MoN. I can also top the charts with the Sorc, or frequently bum around in the top 3, but this is honestly not a feat. It just shows that you have been a good little healbot and spent all your playtime through the match latched onto other allies babysitting them like a pocket nurse that you are. The last sentence is not written in a way to discredit people who like playing healbots, more power to them, but such a playstyle should be a specialization rather than a default state of affairs of a Sorcerer class. Compared to the Apo who can heal and support with his bolter at the same time we are far outshined due to how "time taxing" our healing mechanics are. Thats why i suggested a rework on the healing mechanics before in this thread. In closing, even with the bugs put to the side, the class itself is just unfun to play as right now. There are surely people who find it fun, but the metrics clearly show they are not in the majority for sure, which is why a full on healbot should be just one of the many specializations rather then the default Sorc state of being. First things first, they fix the bugs, after that when we get more things added to the Sorc allot of stuff will shift towards the better, but those bug fixes are seriously WAY overdue. Fingers crossed at least some are addressed in that giant patch coming to us soon.
I already have people who say Sorcerer is OP, and it baffles me. And then somehow I get 31 kills in a game with 13 deaths without sacrificing how much i'm healing people, and I think I might be insane.....or my opponents are just really, really bad. One of the two.
Id reckon the latter, or better put rather than bad theres still allot of new people (judging by the rank badges on the LSM part of the scoreboards) so its easy to get kills. I had 28-5 a few days back on the Sorc, its not impossible to get a good score, but its a rare set of circumstances melding together to bring about something like that in my experience. One of the bigger ones being playing like some sort of a quasi rogue and just backstabbing unaware folk.
Which drives me crazy, there's a good class in there and I actually love the idea of a healing Sorcerer personally. I don't mind being a buff class and not being the king of combat with loads of doombolts or something, at the same time I need the Sorcerer to be functional in combat and outside those circumstances it just doesn't happen. Hell, we aren't exactly that good at healing right now either and I hope there's some sort of wargear we can get to augment it.
we already know that between eldar and ork they have some time to dedicate to fix/complete space marine.
