I'd personally like to see a minimalistic MMO style party/squad tab on my screen, that shows their health/downed status and their class. VERY BASIC, without stylized borders, glamor shots of their face, ect. There might be some players that want all the stylized borders, glamor shots of their party members, ect... I'd ask that you at least give us the choice since you're not going to allow UI Mods or add ons. As far as minimap, VERY basic and minimal. A north seeking arrow is a must, with the ability to LOCK the North seeking arrow to always face North. I'd prefer not to be spoon fed kills, so I don't want to see a sea of red dots(representing enemy players) on my minimap. Friendly players in my party should show on the minimap as green, friendly players not in my squad show up as blue. I'd also like the ability to make any of my UI elements larger or smaller, and the ability to move any tab on my screen.
The best solution often is to make the UI as customizable as possible. Warhammer Online had an entirely customizable UI, for example. You could move everything visible on screen and you could turn it off and on if you wished to do so. You could have a lot of detailed information told to you or you could have nothing at all and everything inbetween. It was one of the few things that game did right The bottom line is that some people will like the minimalism approach while others want thick stylized options or a ton of information all over the screen.
yeah i see how that would be a problem. but if you think about it the space battle is just as important in the warhammer 40k universe
Someone posted about toggle on/off helmet ,how about that + all consequences, for example no headshot damage reduction(instakill),no tactical view/marks above squad members for some kind of little exp boost or just Role-play value ^^ Just imagine brave sergeant leading Space Marines into fray!
We are seriously thinking about doing something like this, if it doesn't hinder too much the gameplay. It is a good filter to see who is brave enough for the job : )
Give me this and make it 40k and race-specific and you got the best game ever. Glowing visors are aaaaweesomeee! Hmm... I am feeling bad for the orks now, though. They will have a harder time finding those.
While Republic Commando was up there with the most awesome games in my book (rip Sev) that there is a FPS and EC will be TPS so i dunno how visors would work here. I dont recall them saying we will have an option to switch to FPS, correct me if im wrong though.
Good point, darn... hmm... How about First Person View (option for it) when, for example, at: - the Ship (about to land, preparing for battle) - own quarters - using some sort of scout mode to survey the area? PS. Read the books by Karen Traviss if you liked Republic Commando!
