    Yes, yes they did.
  4. Still Pre-Alpha, It's confirmed they will have the Surplices don't worry!

  6. Is it bad that I think that looked better than what we got.

  7. I believe many share your opinion , so no don't feel bad

  8. Actually "according to inside sources" that leaked footage was a prototype for Space Marine developed by THQ Australia who at the time pretty much only really did as much as you had saw and the game proper was in the process of being coded and the rest of the art was in the design pipeline. Whatever happened there, I do not know, although I have connections with the Industry here in Aus, let's just say when I ask about what happened to people I know who had worked at THQ Australia in the past, they avoid answering the topic (the rumor mill is they were one of the first to suffer under THQ's infamous financial mismanagement). Soon After that, the IP for the title was handed over to Relic who took over development of the project in 2008 and built the game completely from scratch, not using the original prototype engine or assets. Of course this is what was said about it... but who knows. But yeah that is a good example of how much games change in the course of development. And for the record, what you saw was pretty much all they really did on the project by that time, that was in December 2007. Truth was, I was aware that Space Marine was a game that was going to be made since December 2006, because a friend from a local GW store told me one of his friends friends working at THQ Australia had an idea for a single player action combat game for Warhammer 40 000.

But we are talking about the late 2000s, a very rocky and toxic period in the industry, full of "Play the popularity safety dance" titles, (the whole 'Clone X and attach X IP to X genre then rinse and repeat for cash" yes, that worked out very well for them didn't it? *sarcasm* not that Space Marine was one of those said games, it wasn't, but the mentality of publishers was like that and that's what developers had to sell them, no small thanks to the financial crisis)... so you can't really compare projects from that time period to projects now, a better example would be projects from the early 2000s and the 90s, although good luck finding footage from those times outside of "Making of" and "Studio Tour" videos.
  9. That explains alot , space marine also seemed to go backwards with every trailer about a month before release maybe also because of the financial trouble

Seems like they were heading for a deeper melee, less ranged system and we ended up with a GoW clone in the end.
